Nice hostel for short Porto visits, with excellent location, clean rooms and bathrooms, and friendly staff.

Three of us stayed in this hostel as a starting point for a Camino trip. It ticked all the boxes you would require from a hostel. Clean, friendly staff, central position and at a reasonable price.
There is even free internet available and an excellent little courtyard to sit in for a drink away from the afternoon sun.... with a beer or glass of wine.
We had a room for four with just the three of us in it which was perfect. Showers and toilets etc are all once again good for a hostel. Breakfast is included in the price and was more than adequate, with as much to eat and drink as you require. Kitchen is well appointed if your into your own cooking.
In the evening if enough people are interested the night duty guy cooks a three course meal with wine for 10 euro's and is well recommended. Great chance to socialize around a large dining table.
Would have no hesitation in recommending and would certainly return again.
Absolutely cracking place to stay, whether you are a solo traveller or with friends. There were five of us in our group and we had the 6 man dorm at the top of the building, which shared a balcony with the room next door.
The room was clean, the service attentive and the amenities great. For its price Poets Hostel is fabulous. They have a huge kitchen and dining area, two small but charming patios and offer walking tours, free breakfast and a cheap dinner option, beer at 1.50 a bottle and port at 2 a glass. Great value.
Every single member of staff was helpful and made great recommendations on what to do. I have now stayed at both Poets Hostels in Portugal (Porto & Lisbon) and i recommend them both.
Great hostel! Clean, great service, breakfast included and, most importantly, it's walking-distance from most places you've got to see in Porto!
If you want to, you can have dinner there for 8€ or so... There's a really cool guy, cooking.... Includig first course, dessert and wine! Or if you prefer, you can cook there yourself, buy your ingredients and use the hostel kitchen
Recommended without any doubt!
We came to Oporto by train and were walking around with our bags trying to find the hostel. Found the street it is on but passed by it without even noticing it! It looks just like all the other little buildings around it which makes it very "house-like". The staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed in a double room. It was very spacey and the bed was comfortable. You get free towels and free breakfast included. On the first day there were pancakes with melted caramel for breakfast: yum! There was also fruit, bread and all that regular stuff.
The location is great! It is a less than 1 minute walk from Clérigos Tower and close to many other attractions. If you exit the hostel and go left and then turn on the first street on the left and go straight forward you will reach a miradouro (view point). It is a bit degraded but the view is amazing! You can see the D.Luis bridge and Gaia. There's also a good restaurant (20€/person) on the hostel street, exiting the hostel turn right and it will be about 100 meters on the left.
Overall, I had a great time in Oporto!
Forget small B and B's and hotel's and try this hostel out. Fantastic room, very friendly staff and great atmosphere. The bathrooms are adequate but nothing special,. but then, if you're on a budget what more do want? Good value for money and totally recommend the hostel dinner if you're new in town. Would definitely go back.
