“Easily one of the best”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

Stayed here with a couple of friends back in January. The location is certainly very good, close to the centre and metro. On one of the big streets so its pretty safe. When we arrived we were attended very well. The first thing we noticed is how cozy and relaxed the common room is. There are a couple of computers with Internet, games, guitar, all free to be used. The kitchen, too, is very nice and well equipped.

The whole place, the toilet, the bedroom/dorm was good and clean. No complaints whatsoever in that area. (Although it would be great if there were more powerpoints in the room?) Not sure how it is now but when we were there the wifi was only available in the common room/lobby but our room was directly on top so we still did get a connection. Oh, free breakfast! For the price, we were surprised that it also includes free breakfast and its no lame breakfast, the spread was actually pretty satisfying.

Safe area. Great location. Friendly helpful staff, also helped us with suggestion and way around town. Loved the common room. Good kitchen, bedroom, toilet. One of the best you can find!

Room Tip: If wifi matters to you, the room directly above the common room.

The Rivoli Cinema Hostel was our first stop beginning a 2 week inter-rail trip around Portugal and definitely set us off on a great start. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and the hostel itself was not only easy to find on arrival into the city from the airport, but was also very comfortable and spacious. The rooms themselves are also very secure and as well as being interestingly designed - each one is modeled upon a well-known film, we found ourselves in the Stanley Kubrick room based on the Clockwork Orange which was very cool - they are also secure with plenty of lockers for your belongings.

The kitchen is clean and very open plan, breakfast is also worth getting up early for! Porto itself is a beautiful city, and with the rooftop terrace complete with chairs and sun loungers you can take in some sun and serious panoramic views without even leaving the hostel!

Room Tip: With hostels in general I always try for bigger dorms, the smaller the room, the more considerate yo...

The hostel is really budget friendly! The staff is very helpful and nice. The rooms and shared spaces are clean. Also, the hostel is the center of Porto. I would recommend it to everyone. Almost every night there are events going on.

I was on an exchange trip with students from all over the world, although us Irish students stayed in this hostel.

I was staying with two friends so upon arrival we asked if we could pay for the two rooms, but move a bed into the other rooms so we could all converse at night. It was no problem for the recepcionist.

So we went upstairs and sat in the room, a few moments later the maid came in and boy did she not look happy! But she was pulling a bed, so it was excusable, we offered to help, but she refused.

This was my first stay in a hostel, and it we fantastic, a nice living space for group activities, a big kitchen and each room was based on a film which was cool, we stayednin the blade runner & amelie rooms!

The receptionist was kind and helpful, but the maid always looked like she had sat on a sharp pinecone.

In there living area, there was an acoustic guitar, a DVD player with lots of DVDs to choose from, and a ps2 as well as a Wii!

There was WiFi too,but it was a wee bit dodgy sometimes.

The hostel is also located right off the main square, which is real handy! (After you find it that is!)

Overall the beds were comfy, people were friendly, everything you want from a reasonably priced hostel.
