At first sight it is another 'boutique-hotel' (like: great for architects/designers, not for real use) but that was not true ... We got 2 double conecting suites (we were with kids) and everything I wish in a hotal was above expectations: silence, confort, bath ... the staff is well trained and willing to help your needs. We had a reservation for dinner at a very well recomended place, but we decided to stay in and just relax. It was a wise decision. We chose the larger 'menu degustation' because of our 'always-starving' 14 y-o boy (and normally menu-degustation dishes are very small). Well ... in the end he was satisfied before the last dish came in. The dishes were superb going through cavaquina, mola-fish, bacalhau, foi-gras etc and the harmonization wines were perfect. I don't have time or like much writing, but vthey deserve it. Surely the place to stay in O Porto.

Room Tip: Probably all rooms are good.

The Teatro Hotel is beautiful with friendly, professional staff.I have to say I've never been in a hotel like it.Our room was amazing with lovely personal touches such as a complimentary bottle of Port.We dined in the restaurant as well and it too was fantastic.Overall I actually enjoyed the hotel more than Porto!

the position of this hotel was excellent and the service from staff was better , although the hotel was not bright in lighting it was very relaxing , the bar we found was great with some great tapas on the menu , and the portugesse sparkling wine at 15 euros a bottle was very good , the shower leaked a little at the door but by placing the foot towel there its stopped it , very , very good value for money , and we will go back there again

The Hotel is well placed and in a lively district of Porto. The service was excellent and the room we had was well appointed.

Room Tip: We were on the third floor. Front side of the hotel with a good view

The front desk people was very helpful and informative. The hotel location is excellent, close to the tourist centre and an easy walk to the bodegas on the other side of the river. Clean rooms, nice designs, nice bar and breakfast. Terrible bathroom: water out of the shower on the wood floor. The hotel is way too dark.

this is a lovely quaint hotel, but the rooms are very small and dark. The bathroom can be seen from the bedroom as it has a full glass wall so beware - you won't get any privacy so not ideal if you are sharing with a friend or in a new relationship!!. The lighting in the room and bathroom is very poor so you may want to review your make-up once you've left the room as it's so difficult to see in the rooms.
The staff are very helpful but you don't see many around the place.
The breakfast was OK but there wasn't much choice really.
Location is good - walking distance to the port but beware of the uphil trek for those of you who are unfit. Check out the clothes shop next door to the hotel - fantastic trendy clothes at super cheap prices but without losing the quality.

Room Tip: Try and get a room away from the front of the hotel as noisy early morning.

We chose Hotel Teatro for our visit to Porto due to its unique combination of modern and vintage aesthetic. It is truly an old theater, and the rooms are swanky and amazing. It is part of the "Design Hotel" classification, and there are very few around the world. We got the "honeymoon special", which came with a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries... such a nice touch.

The location was perfect if you want to stick to the historical part of the city. We walked all over the place from the hotel. Easy to get to a ton of good restaurants and to the Duoro river where you can walk across the Dom Luis Bridge to get over to Vila Nova de Gaia where the port wine cellars can be found. Just get ready for some SERIOUS hill walking. It's good for working off all of the food and drinks you'll consume while in this great city :)

We had a blast staying here!
