The initial impressions of the hotel as you go through the main entrance is a little mysterious due to the lighting and curtains not what you usually expect from a hotel entrance. After check-in and being shown to our room, we chose a Tribune room, our senses were again confronted, this time with a glass walled bathroom. We later discovered that there were curtains, brown of course, to cover your modesty!

You start to tune into the surroundings and realise that the hotel, built on the site of an old theatre, is paying homage to its roots and as you “tune in” to the theme you see more and more theatrical touches.

The restaurant is certainly “fine dining” but the lack of vegetables on the menu meant, for us at least, that it was not somewhere to eat regularly.

A little bit quirky, fascinating, intriguing and fun with all the help you could want from very courteous staff.

Room Tip: Tribune rooms are best deal

Located within easy walking distance of all the major attractions and public transport stations, this funky hotel provides lovely service and yummy buffet breakfasts. No spa or swimming pool, but there is a groovy bar.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed - the door man parked our rental car for us and the lady at the reception welcomed us warmly and let us check in VERY early - we appreciated all aspects of the this service, greatly!

The room is somewhat small but serves its purpose - very clean and comfortable.

We were offered a welcome drink and also ate at the restaurant twice - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This is probably the best place to stay in Porto! we will be back!

the location is also wonderful - very central and in walking distance from the major sites!

The Teatro hotel in Porto is a very interesting designer hotel. Guests are at first confronted by the darkness of the rooms and the dominance of brown and gold pallet throughout. We were aware of this aspect before we booked but you are simply "confronted" by this challenge to want to turn up the lights in the room! Having managed to deal with the low light the room was comfortable and functional- which is what you want in a short stay hotel room.
The use of tinted brown glass and sliding doors to separate the seeping area from the bathroom area works once you get accustomed to the concept.
The reception staff were very helpful on directing us to places in Porto.
One criticism is the fact that the wifi did not work in our room but it was free and worked well in the public areas.
The hotel is very well located to the main tourist attractions and shopping streets are within easy walking distance.
I liked the hotel and the designer concept- it may not be everyones preference though.

We stayed for 7 nights. The hotel is perfectly located, the rooms are nicely designed and clean. Perhaps the lighting over night tables could be better. (I like to read at night.) Although sometimes I have sleeping problems at home, I slept well in this hotel. Of course we liked the complimentary bottle of wine and cheese. The breakfast buffet is very good. Fantastic coffee! The staff is courteous, and helpful. Staying in this hotel was a very nice experience. If we visit Porto in the future, without doubt we will choose Teatro Hotel again.

A fabulous little gem of a hotel with a totally unique look & feel with helpful and corteous staff. I have visited several times and definitey rate it as an all time fave! With the feeling of a dark and atmospheric theatre interior complete with costumes, wonderful deep sofas and an intimate yet sophisticated feel placed right in the heart of the tourist center there's really not much else to say. Breakfast is nice, rooms are clean and bathrooms luxurious. The beds are by far the most comfortable yet. No worries with noise and all in all so nice that you may not even leave your room!

Room Tip: If you can afford it go for the bigger rooms.
