Very well located, friendly and helpfull staff but this is not enough to make us forget that we want privacy when we need to use the bathroom. The bathroom has no door, some have a courtin, but I didn`t was so lucky. My room has only clear glasses doors separeting the shower and the toillete. You have to shower and use toillette exposed to anyone inside your room. We ordered a room service but coudn`t open the room door until get dressed after finishing shower.
The designer Nini Andrade Silva tryed to make us feel like inside a Theatre, behind the courtins, but she forgot that all theatre needs to have "camarins" to the actors get ready to perform, so, she transported the misterious darkness from behind the courtins to the rooms. If this backstage misterious sensation works well for the Reception desk, bars and corridors of the hotel, it is not confortable or usefull to the guest rooms. It is so dark that is impossible to any women make up herself there, unless she can open the courtins to use the daylight by the window. At night, forget about it.
I stayed there in May,31,2014 together with a group of 80 braziliens friends and everybody made the same complains about the exposure of the bath rooms and the darkness of the rooms.
When we complained to the hotel staff, they said that they are not allowed to do any change to make our stay more comfortable, due to a contract they have with the Designer that made the decoration of the hotel.
The signature designer Nini Andrade Silva probably have never sleeped there, in a standard guest room, or she would know exactly what we complained about.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- The Hotel Teatro arose from the spot where the Baquet Theatre was inaugurated in 1859. A hundred and fifty-one years later, the unique, refined and bohemian environment of the Theatre has been revived here in a hotel. The Reception represents a box office, where each guest receives a ticket to access their room. The Restaurant and Bar have become the new Palco and Plateia, offering creations for a discerning palate. The inner courtyard is a versatile garden or a quiet and secluded haven from the tumult of the city. The 74 comfortable rooms and suites are colored in gold and bronze, and the gym on the top floor transforms the Hotel into a true arena for action and relaxation. ... more less
