Was expecting good things from this place based on its reviews, as we love escape rooms and crystal maze activities. We were given a briefing but we were all still rather confused when we entered the activity as we were shown how the iPad works but the screen was in Portuguese and the staff member was trying to explain in English as best she could. We enjoyed some of the games but had issues with the iPad throughout as didn’t really know how to use it so lost points etc throughout due to this. We also think in one of the rooms, the codes we were entering were correct but the iPad was not accepting them. At one point we wanted some assistance so pressed the emergency stop button but know body came until we went back to the start.

All in all a great concept but the lack of assistance/help when we needed it and the poor briefing on how to use the iPad spoilt our experience.

Thank you for the review and for having enjoyed our new game concept. We would like to clarify some topics you mentioned because they may wrongly inform other travellers as some very important details need to be pointed out.

--Topic 1: The tablet is in English language not Portuguese during the game--
We use 2 tablets in this activity: 1 for the game and 1 just for the briefing. In your review you mention a tablet in Portuguese but that's not the tablet you took when playing the game. It was the tablet used in the briefing which you don't use during the game. It is very relevant to whoever reads this review that the game is available in multiple languages and that they can always interact with the tablet without knowing a single word of Portuguese. We just wanted to clarify that for the fast readers ;)

--Topic 2: Briefing with tablet in Portuguese--
We have an English version of the briefing as well which by accident wasn't used. However the language you use in the briefing tablet is quite irrelevant as it could be in Chinese but all the relevant information would be passed on just the same as players only need to know what 2 buttons do and where the information is on the screen. During the briefing we don't even give the briefing tablet to the players hands as they don't need to read anything to know how to play the game.

--Topic 3: Wrong codes--
Here we are absolutely sure the codes are correctly inserted in the system as we have had +600 games to test and validate this information. What might have happened is that in fact some of our missions are quite tough and some of the steps you need to do are tricky on purpose so that people really need to have attention to detail and communicate very well as a team. Little details might just give you the wrong solution while a small but relevant detail informed by a team player can make everything different. :p

--Topic 3: No assistance and emergency buttons--
In the briefing we inform that emergency buttons are only for emergencies as they stop the game, open all the doors and allow players to exit the facilities and are not to request help during the game. For assistance during the game we have 4 options: (A) use the Briefing guide on the main screen where all the information is shown (in English language) so players only need to read it carefully to know what to do (B) we have the boards on the walls with the same information as on the briefing (C) We have special hints that cost you points during each mission that you can press and get information about how to do a particular challenge and (D) For first time participants in escape rooms or activities similar to there we additionally often provide players with walkie talkies so they don't feel lost. This is probably where we failed in your game, which was not to give you the walkie talkie set that would for sure take care of all the confusion you felt during the game. We would also like to inform that from now on we'll be giving the walkie talkie to all teams so that we can prevent less enjoyable situations like yours as we want our customers to experience our activities to the fullest :)

We're happy that you enjoyed our concept and the games but we're sad that you felt that it could be better if some things were better explained. As mentioned, we've now applied a different procedure that will for sure solve the situation you reported.

Definitely, Banzai have one of the best games in Porto! I’ve tried a lot of escape room games around the city, and Banzai outdid them self’s! The game is not the same as a conventional Escaping room game, but in my opinion it’s even funnier! I recommend to go there in groups, couples, whatever! As long as you go, you will really enjoy the game

My friends and I walked past Banzai on our way home and the large pink door caught our eye. We were brought inside and were told about how Banzai is the first of its kind. Being someone whos done escape rooms in the past, I loved the idea of something different. A mix of mental & physical challenges that we do in a team is a great idea. My friend group of 3 loved it so much that we ended up going twice in our 4 day stay. It was a great bonding activity, affordable, and a perfect way to get out of the rain.
