Food was good, but it is a pity they spoil their reputation by low pratices. They present extra items without mentioning the price, but if you use them: ... slice of butter: 0.8 euro - small piece of 'sardine pasta' 1 euro - bread 2.7 euro !!!. It goes quickly to an extra 10 euro to pay... When they have to come up with the exchange money for the bill, they try to wait so long till you have lost your patience and finally go away. You feel yourself cheeted by such ugly way of handling customers..

Chose this restaurant on the riverbank as the menu was more interesting than at the other places plus the view was fantastic.Had seafood cream soup which didn't taste much of seafood but it was all forgotten once I got to main course.I had pork Porto style, which was freshly-made and delicious! Huge portion also! Their wine selection is really good. The waiters are helpful, kind and chatty. It could have been a 5 star experience if I hadn't had such unpleasant surprise when I got the bill. They charged me for the little appetizers 6 euros! So once they bring them over to your table return them straight away!

One of the many restaurants which are located on the north side of the river nearby the bridge of Louis II - the other side has many wineries with places in "wine tasting" style.
The area is touristic (which means keep your expectations low), full of people walking by the river, the atmosfere is very nice. The weather even in 13th of August was chilly (18 C) so if you plan to seat outside (which is recommended at that time of the year ) be prepared, get something to put over your shoulders if not a jacket!

The food in general was tasty and well cooked (a vegetable soup, two salads and for the main courses grilled salmon, lasagne) except the lasagne which were rather heavy (many creams and cheeses) though not bad. Plus half bottle of house wine (5 euros). Total cost 34,10 euros - rather fair for this dinner.
The service was good except the annoying habbit (usual in Portugal) to put in front of you when you seat all that small things like pieces of cheese and olives and butters without asking you if you want them. Tip: Return instantly those tasteless and low quality staff, you'll miss nothing and you save money.

Recommended - if you have in mind all of the above.
Have a nice time whatever you choose to do :o) .

My friends and I were recommended this restaurant by a local and we were pleasantly surprised with the food quality there. We ordered grilled octopus and grilled squid and it was so soft that it was melting in my mouth. I know that this kind of seafood is hard to cook so I am always hesitant to order it but it turned out great. The customer service was excellent as well. It was a restaurant by the river so we didn't expect much from it but it did exceed all of our expectations. Great place by the Douro River!
