“Quite good”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2014

One of a dozen or so cafes/bars along the Ribeira riverfront. The waiters try to inject some lighthearted good humour into the place (and to a degree they succeed) but in the end it's simply a quite good restaurant serving quite good food at quite resonable prices...as are all their competitors.

“Excellent seafood, great service and ambience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 October 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our meals here, eating here on two of the three nights we were in Porto. We ate outside, enjoying the views of the river and people strolling by. This is a great, simple restaurant, wonderful food, good prices, terrific service. My husband had the largest and best tiger shrimp he has ever eaten, and I loved my seafood and rice. My second night's meal was chicken and clams Alentejo style, which was also terrific! The wine list is nice, with good wines from both the Douro and Alentejo, along with waitstaff skilled in helping you choose. Good port after dinner, as well. Great, casual, comfortable riverside eatery! Our waiter was a delight, greeting kids and elderly neighborhood residents as they passed by.

“Avoid!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 September 2013

I am shocked by the relatively OK reviews here. This was one of the worst experiences ever. We ordered fish pate as appetizer, soups and a main course. First we got the pate in a container, bought in the supermarket, which we returned. After some 40 minutes we got the main course and then reminded them of the soups, so the waiter took the bacalhau back and brought the soups. The seafood cream soup was everything else but seafood cream, no taste whatsoever. The bacalhau as main course was drowned in mayonnaise, which I can still not understand. A nicely baked piece of fish which you couldn't get a taste of because of two cups of mayo poured over it. After a mix-up with the soups I expected they would treat us with something, but that didn't happen. Because they know people would come because it's a touristy area. The locals will also tell you to avoid eating in Ribeira, but I heard that only after we already tried it. Very bad indeed.

“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2013

After a two week holiday around Portgual, we stumbled onto this lovely restaurant. As with all restaurants in Portugal, the bread, pate, and butter is extra and individually charged. The food is delicious and the staff is wonderfully helpful, cheerful, and quite charming. We went to this restaurant a second time and the staff did remember us and were very welcoming. My favorite in Porto!

“Good value despite the extras”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2013

Yes the (not ordered) starters brought to the table are added to the bill. There is an attempt to warn you of this in the menu with a large warning stating that starters will be charged for. This could confuse though as you can order your choice of starters from the menu so you could be forgiven for thinking this warning referred to these. Ironically a verbal warning of the charge was given to a gentleman who had ordered his meal without having a menu as he had ordered on his way in.

The food was good, the francesinha was one of the better ones tried, and as said was good value.
