We stayed at the InterContinental in Porto in March. Lovely rooms with very comfortable beds and pillows. The front desk staff was very helpful with recommendations for restaurants and city sights. A special thank you to Goncalo and Vasco . Breakfast was included in our rate. We would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Porto!

I echo the previous positive reviews of this splendid hotel in a superb position overlooking the city’s main square. We were upgraded to an second floor executive room overlooking the square which at first concerned me but this was groundless as the soundproofing was very good and I slept well every night in the wide, very comfortable bed – no noise could be heard from adjacent rooms and hardly any from street. The bathroom was magnificent with separate WC and wet room in addition to the good size tub. Lovely big towels were replaced every day.

We had breakfast in the dining room (the Astoria restaurant) and felt guilty watching commuters from Sao Bento station hurrying through the rain as we feasted on the comprehensive buffet. We did not dine there as prices seemed high and there were many tempting restaurants around to try.

All hotel staff were extremely helpful and pleasant, especially at the concierge desk.

Room Tip: If a square facing room, go for higher floors. Avoid those near elevator, which has various irritati...

We stayed for 3 days in InterContinental Porto Palacio das Cardosas as a couples week-end escape and we only can say superlatives for the hotel. Located In the heart of the city, walking distance from everything you need in the center of Porto.

This place was recently completely renovated and everything is shiny and brand new. The lobby is spotlessly clean, everything is covered with marble. The personnel is young, very energetic and SO FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. I think in General Portuguese people are very friendly, but the personal of Intercontinental Porto is ULTRA NICE. From the porter, to concierge to reception to housekeeping you feel their positive energy and willingness to make you HAPPY !

We were in Deluxe Room facing the Liberdade square and the room was big enough. Very modern with great granite and marble bathroom, ultra comfortable king bed and nice FREE HIGH SPEED WI-FI internet.

The breakfast buffet included in rate (prices for the room are great value) was not so huge, but you had everything you need including very good coffee. The breakfast is in the Astoria restaurant, which has a great view of the Liberdade square. We also had lunch in Astoria on Sunday and the food was fantastic and price extremely affordable for Intercontinental.

The concierge recommended us very nice restaurants, we liked very much 5 Oceanos in Matosinhos area. Matoshinos is the fishing port (satellite city of Porto) where there are some hundreds sea-food restaurants serving one of the best food you are going to taste everywhere in the world. 5 Oceanos was fantastic we will post a separate review )

OVERALL
I would highly recommend the Intercontinental hotel and generally Porto as lovely place to enjoy life. Great city, good and affordable food, amazing seafood, ultra friendly Portuguese people, nice weather, lovely cathedrals and architecture (Portuguese are very religious people and the cathedrals are astonishing) in Rangiroa and as we all know he was a very smart man ! And finally for every football fan, you must see the FC Porto stadium, which is one of the best in the world.

Do not forget the Douro valley trips and some of the best wines in the world at so low prices. When in Porto you MUST taste as much wines as possible !!! Ceers !

The Intercontnental in Oporto is in every way in the centre of things, but at this point a lot of roadworks which certainly makes arrival by car more interesting, allow extra time.
Fantastc attentive staff, not a thing is a problem.
Great superior room, magnificent bathroom all fully kitted and a big large king bed, you could not ask for more.
Unfortunately the restaurant was fully booked so we went walkabout that evening, plenty of choice out there and very varied.
But at break fast all in order with a full compliment of choices.
Can't think of a bad thing to say about this place other than the windows do not keep out the noise from the city at night at the front of the hotel.

Our hotel, Palacio das Cardosas, is indeed ideally located in one of the most iconic 18th century building in the city centre and within walking distance from all the major city attraction, so definitely a great starting point to unveil the city!

Looking forward to welcome you back.

I expected the generally high standards found at Intercontinental hotels, these were met and exceeded. This hotel does not have a "chain" feel about, more of a city landmark and something quite special. Excellent staff, great location and a lovely ambience. I travelled for business but would love to stay at this hotel again for leisure.

Room Tip: The executive rooms are worth the extra few euros

I am not surprised to see that this is the number 1 Hotel in Porto. It fulfils the service of its star rating whilst offering the feel of a city landmark.

Its fairly well priced and location is fantastic.

As the taxi pulled up to our hotel the night we arrived, I was immediately impressed. The ornate architecture of the exterior of the building and the posh lobby interior were a welcoming site after a long flight. The staff was friendly but especially the waitress in the bar. The bar had a library type decor which was sophisticated and perfect for sipping port. The evening we arrived it was late but we were hungry as we hadn't had dinner that during the traveling that evening. We kindly asked the waitress if could at least have a small cheese plate as the kitchen had already closed. She obliged with a nice selection of cheeses and some bread. We munched on this along with some recommended Port. It was a perfect way to end our first evening in Porto. The rooms are relatively spacious, beds quite comfortable, and modern clean bathrooms. A nice extensive breakfast is offerred in their restaurant, which has a good view on one of the main squares......a relaxing place to start of planning your day! We received a great rate for our room...which made it all the more worth it!. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again when in Porto!
