Eurostars Oporto Hotel
We booked the Eurostars Oporto on a whim after reading the reviews here on trip advisor . We are very pleased we did.
From before we arrived we had an email telling us what to see in Oporto which made us feel like we were old friends returning for a visit, and we had not arrived yet!
Excellent marketing and customer care, and it did not stop there, when we arrived that welcome extended itself with warmth and friendliness, from the two receptionists on duty.
The room did not disappoint -spotless, spacious, lovely bathroom and balcony and a little kitchen, all very modern and sparkly clean.
The beds were two singles put together, but were very comfortable and indeed the pillows were of good quality and comfort too. I hate bad pillows in hotels, as it is so important for sleep quality and so many hotels really miss the mark on bedding.
The little kitchenette was such a bonus for us as we had breakfast here every day and it was good to be able to have a sink and kettle and fridge.
The hotel provided knives, forks and spoons, but does not provide any crockery, so after day one we went to the local supermarket and bough a couple of breakfast bowls. You could have breakfast at the hotel, but we are a little fussy so had our own favourites which we bought at the nearby supermarket.
There are lots of little café and restaurants about the place, within a minutes’ walk from the hotel.
You should be aware that the Eurostars hotel is not anywhere near the city centre, but is opposite a metro and bus stop, so it is easy to get to the city to eat, about a ten minute ride on the metro.
The hotel is located in a newly developed area near the hospital in a region called San Jeao, and although it is new, there are lots of facilities and a good supermarket.
There are ATMs near to the hotel, but both the Santander and the other were out of cash when we visited.
About the room comfort, everything was fine, but we could have done with two chairs, and a little table and chairs on the balcony as well, there was only one chair in the room and sitting on the bed was not comfortable.
This is a minor thing, as mostly we were out and about.
There is aircon, luckily, as the one night we opened the door we were kept awake by a dog barking all night. This is not anything the hotel could do to change, just an observation and a slight annoyance that you have to use the air conditioning.
All in all the Eurostars Hotel was an excellent choice, very good value for money, sweet and excellent staff.
We would return, we would upgrade, and have a superior room at the front of the building not at the back overlooking the car park.
