Eurostars Oporto Hotel

We booked the Eurostars Oporto on a whim after reading the reviews here on trip advisor . We are very pleased we did.
From before we arrived we had an email telling us what to see in Oporto which made us feel like we were old friends returning for a visit, and we had not arrived yet!
Excellent marketing and customer care, and it did not stop there, when we arrived that welcome extended itself with warmth and friendliness, from the two receptionists on duty.
The room did not disappoint -spotless, spacious, lovely bathroom and balcony and a little kitchen, all very modern and sparkly clean.
The beds were two singles put together, but were very comfortable and indeed the pillows were of good quality and comfort too. I hate bad pillows in hotels, as it is so important for sleep quality and so many hotels really miss the mark on bedding.
The little kitchenette was such a bonus for us as we had breakfast here every day and it was good to be able to have a sink and kettle and fridge.
The hotel provided knives, forks and spoons, but does not provide any crockery, so after day one we went to the local supermarket and bough a couple of breakfast bowls. You could have breakfast at the hotel, but we are a little fussy so had our own favourites which we bought at the nearby supermarket.
There are lots of little café and restaurants about the place, within a minutes’ walk from the hotel.
You should be aware that the Eurostars hotel is not anywhere near the city centre, but is opposite a metro and bus stop, so it is easy to get to the city to eat, about a ten minute ride on the metro.
The hotel is located in a newly developed area near the hospital in a region called San Jeao, and although it is new, there are lots of facilities and a good supermarket.
There are ATMs near to the hotel, but both the Santander and the other were out of cash when we visited.
About the room comfort, everything was fine, but we could have done with two chairs, and a little table and chairs on the balcony as well, there was only one chair in the room and sitting on the bed was not comfortable.
This is a minor thing, as mostly we were out and about.
There is aircon, luckily, as the one night we opened the door we were kept awake by a dog barking all night. This is not anything the hotel could do to change, just an observation and a slight annoyance that you have to use the air conditioning.
All in all the Eurostars Hotel was an excellent choice, very good value for money, sweet and excellent staff.
We would return, we would upgrade, and have a superior room at the front of the building not at the back overlooking the car park.

Room Tip: Ask for a room which does not overlook the car park at the back. Ugly view.

Staff at this hotel were very welcoming and happily provided suggestions in terms of nearby restaurants. The hotel is very functional and modern. We were upgraded to an apartment with a king size bed, large bathroom with shower and fully equipped kitchen. Internet access is free and acoustic insulation very good. Only drawback: it is far from the city centre and the airport, and the immediate surroundings are not great. It would take an hour to transfer from the airport using public transportation or less than 15 minutes by cab. The metro stop is very close to the hotel though, and you can get to the centre of Porto in twenty minutes or so.

Excellent hotel. A little far from the city centre but the metro (and bus stop) is just a few blocks from the hotel. I highly recommend it.

We stayed for 4 nights in May 2012 and had a great stay at this hotel. The bedrooms and the whole hotel were comfortable, stylish and spacious. There was free wifi with a good strong signal in the bedroom. Very good range of hot and cold food at breakfast. The staff were helpful and generally spoke good English.
Although the hotel is out of the centre of Porto, it’s a couple of minutes walk to the Hospital São João Metro station; from where it is a 10-15 minute ride to the centre of Porto. There are cafes and restaurants within a short walk of the hotel.

While free on-street parking is available, it can be quite difficult to find. We chose to park in the Hotel parking garage – first night €5 then €10 per night. While this seemed a bit expensive, we had got a decent rate for the rooms and the combined cost of the rooms and the parking was good value for money.

We went with friends to Portugal,My friend put me on a budget to find a room,I decide to reserve at this hotel - my luck! 2 minutes from the metro ( dont forget each persons has to have is card and put trip into it, zone 3 ) if Iwould of reserve near the metro Sao Bento I would of not like my stay. In front of the hotel plenty of little restaurant for every taste, pizza, steaks,sandwiches...It is in the area of the hospital and University - great neightborhood! a quiet place to rest after a 10 hours of walk in the city of hills, because all day long you go up and down.Nice little kitchenette and a great bathroom and shower area. The balcony was a nice addition to it. Take a boat trip and then you will receive a rebate to visit a shop of Porto manufacture -Calem, Ferreira, Offrey, and then go in front by the water have a nice dinner at a restaurant with good lounge music, great food and admire the great view of the city,

Big, clean modern room at an extremely reasonable price. Metro stop a few meters away from the hotel, with many trains departing at all times. The center of Porto is only about fifteen to twenty minutes away. We actually preferred staying away from the center.

There are several coffee shops in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, all serving good food, coffee, etc, at very reasonable prices. Well, we discovered that with food one can hardly ever go wrong in Porto.

Lovely hotel but we were were moved to the Marriott for the first of a two night stay. Marriott is also very good however it meant moving on the first morning when we should have been able to simply get on with our day. Easy to get into the town centre on the very efficient metro
