If you're not taking a train, the best reason to visit Sao Bento in Porto is the marvelous set of murals in the entrance. The azuelo tile paintings depict scenes in Portuguese history.

Remembering the age of the old railroad is displayed with the grand entrance and porcelain tile and still the hustle and bustle of a train terminus.

In the entry way of the train center, there is the most amazing array of tile work that shows some of the history of Portugal. It doesn't take long to look around (although you could spend quite some time looking at all the amazing detail). It doesn't cost anything but it is marvelous to behold.
