Good for the money we paid: big room for adults, instead of extra bed for child they gave us a key for extra room. It's clean, breakfast - good and ample. Though the district it is situated in is rather quirky in night. But so is almost entire Porto, though it's rather beautiful city. Ali in all hotel is good with attitude of 1970-ies.

Room Tip: higher floor rooms have a view of porto roofs

Hotel is ok but not the star rating they claim,it's clean and in a quiet location, staff are very friendly and helpful, cooked part of breakfast is ok,the continental part is pretty good if you like that sort of thing, the safe is extra at €1.50 per day,you only get tea/coffee tray if you ask for it,there is no restaurante. The hotel is only 10 min. walk from Trindade Metro Station, but you have to get a Andante card from the machines at the stations and validate it every time you use the transport system.
Things we liked were the Ponte St.Luise Bridge,Sao Francisco church (great catacoomes and glass tile showing bones also 880 lb,s of gold in the alter,Clerigos clock tower only €2.50 it's a bit of a climb but worth it.Other things are the hop on hop off tour bus is great value, the tour tram is not worth the money, fenicula rail way is ony little but saves you a big hike use your Andante card on this, cable cars are a little expensive but enjoyable, loads of river cruises
A good place to eat is down on the river side called "Filha da Mae Preta," The Fransisinha is very tasty.
Best place to watch the world go but and have a dink is down by the river.
Watch out for the begger who is on crutches and wears a grey jacket,he will go away eventualy,I thought he was a professinal begger,I've never seen a begger who's hair is clean and groomed, clean shaven and teeth like simon cowell, but wow does he smell.

When my boyfriend and I decided to go to Porto for a weekend, we chose this hotel because it was part of the Best Western chain and seemed to be good value for a 4* hotel. However, when we arrived we were immediately struck by how dated and tired looking the hotel was. My parents (who used to live in Porto in the 80s) remembered when it first opened and remembered it being very plush. Well, I'm sure it was.... back in the 80s. Unfortunately, I don't think anything has been done to the interior since. The decor was very old-fashioned (loud carpets and lots of brown!), the 'double' bed seemed significantly smaller than an ordinary double and the bathroom was small and dingy. The air conditioning didn't work (or at least we couldn't work out how to control it and it kept switching itself on and off unexpectedly!), nor did the extractor fan, which was an inconvenience as the bathroom was so small and windowless.

Another problem we had was that the walls of the room were incredibly thin, and there was a lot of noise out in the corridors, especially early in the morning when the chambermaids were clattering about. At times it felt as though we were sharing our room with whoever was nextdoor/out in the corridor.

However, it wasn't all bad. For what we paid, it was reasonable, but we were disappointed as we were expecting a 4* hotel and it paled in comparison to other 4* hotels we've stayed in. I should also say that the staff were very friendly and helpful, so that's a positive point. Overall, if you're looking for reasonable quality at a decent price, you could do worse than this hotel. Just don't expect luxury!

Me and my boyfriend we stayed here 2 nights. What was ment to be a short Valentine's brake ended up being our worse nightmere ever.
After our first night I wake up full of bed bugs bites all over my body . Initially I thought that is maybe an allergie, however later in the day we've seen lots of bugs crawling the place.
We catched one, surch the net to discover what it was and realised that the room was infested with BED BUGS.
we even took one in a glass to the reception and complained.
As a result we've been moved from room 210 to the room 404 where it was even worse.
After the second night I woke up mutilated of bites all over my face , neck, arms, shoulders, bites that are eaching like mad and probably need cortizon treatment.
We've returned home ungry, tired, with red, eachy, blistered skyn.
Instead of spending a nice Valentine's enening we desinfect, wash clothes and try to hunt parasites and their eggs on our suitcases and cloths.

BWInca, Manager at Best Western Hotel Inca, responded to this reviewResponded 15 March 2011

The management regrets this episode - unprecedented at the Best Western Hotel Inca - that upset some guests during those two days. To whom we apologise once again.
The problem was immediately and fully solved.
We would also like to point out that the Best Western Hotel Inca proceeds strictly in cleaning and maintenance of its facilities.

Not having stayed in a Best Western before my wife and I did not know what to expect. But we certainly didn't expect the excellent value the Inca offers. Our room was spacious, comfortable and spotless - and there was loads of storage space. The buffet breakfast was as good as any we've had anywhere, with several different (usually local) dishes each day. And the staff were, without exception, friendly, courteous, and most helpful. The location suited us too; 5 mins walk from the main metro interchange station and just 10 mins into the central district. This meant lots of very good (cheap) local restaurants to choose from, and very few tourist. We would stay there again without hesitation.

The staff at the Beat Western Inca went out of their way to help us enjoy our trip to Portugal.
Maria at the reception desk was like a travel guide to us!!!! She told us about visiting Aviero and Costa Nova south of Oporto. An easy journey and so worth the trip on the Cercanias train to Aviero and then a bus to Costa Nova. Our room was very comfortable and the breakfast was included in the price of the room. A tasty and more than adequate breakfast!! There is a small lounge and bar adjacent to the reception area. Juan made me a delicious Irish coffee one night. One of the best I have ever had!!! Also be sure to visit the restaurant "Galeria de Paris" on Rua Galeria de Paris. An easy walk from the hotel. Very nice area, as well as the pedestrian street, Rua de Cedofieta.

My experience at the hotel was very good. Hotel Inca is affiliated with Best Western and I used the BW website to get a great “last minute” rate for this hotel in central Porto. As a Best Western club member, I also got an upgrade from a double to a huge suite with a small second room on the 6th floor. I stayed at the hotel a 2nd time in a regular double room after an overnight trip to Amarante, and that smaller sized room proved satisfying, too.

The rooms were kept very clean and the sheets were changed daily – which did not happen anywhere else in our 25 days of various hotels in Spain and Portugal. The bathroom was entirely new with modern style fixtures. Our suite had a wonderful west view of City Hall and the red roofed homes of this old city. The air-conditioning worked great. The regular double room faced east over some tree-tops of the small park across the street and we could faintly see the extraordinarily designed Casa de Musica building across town. The regular double room was of an acceptable size and comfort with a fridge. The TVs in all rooms are small and have one lousy English language news channel (SkyChannel) and an English language film channel.

The desk staff was extremely helpful, especially Ms. Silva who runs the show there. She has exceptionally good English and a good personality. We got information on bus and train schedules from the staff and had dinner reservations made for us several times.

The two hotel elevators are small but worked well without having to wait long. There is a small lounge on the ground floor with waiter service for drinks in the lobby. The buffet breakfast was very, very good.

I liked the hotel location, which is a short walk to the town center. We’re relatively fit and being such is helpful for this town. The hotel is slightly up a hill but it is not the only incline you’ll be walking in Porto! The hotel is 5 minutes to the modern metro and 10-15 minutes to the city square and pedestrian malls. It is on a quiet small street next to a police substation, which I suspect, makes it safer while still being quiet. There is a very good, economical laundry shop a block away that the front desk can direct you to (it is much cheaper than this or any other hotel laundry rates). There also is a small pedestrian mall one block away. The intercity train station and bus station are walkable distances… except if carrying luggage.

We had an extremely savory, fixed price lunch (8 Euros) at the nearby Café Lagostino (across from the Hotel Sangre de Infante which has a not-so-good restaurant). We walked from the hotel to and over the Eiffel Bridge to the other side of the river (Vila Nova de Gaia) for two dinners, and took a 7 Euro taxi back to the hotel at night.

Only negatives to the hotel are 1) free wi-fi is only available in the lobby and breakfast area (with a pricey paid service offered in the rooms) and 2) the a/c is not that good in some rooms we checked out.

I can recommend the hotel very highly. Good value for the money.
