I wanted to plan a special couples weekend in Porto, and this was the perfect spot to do it. Álvaro was extremely helpful right from the start, answering all of my questions and going above and beyond to help me plan a great trip. He recommended food and restaurants which were all fantastic choices. The man knows his food... =)

The guesthouse itself is a renovated marvel, with an excellent location close enough to walk to everything, yet removed enough to have peace when necessary. I would go there again next time I am in Porto.

Thanks again!

We were greeted at this beautiful property by the very friendly and enthusiastic owner/manager Alvaro.
The house is gorgeous and perfectly located next to the river (down the steps) and a pretty short walk to town.
We stayed in the Tunel (downstairs) for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon, and it was very nice.
It has a small kitchenette so we could prepare dinner there one night.
It was one of the nicest places we stayed on our honeymoon.
Alvaro helped us with tips where to go and we followed his recommendations- check out the restaurant Ode if you can it is fantastic.
Make sure you have a map with you when you first get in as it can be a little confusing to find - although easy once you know!

I spent 3 nights with my mother in Casa dos Guindais for a weekend trip to Porto. It's a beautyfull restored house with 4 rooms. You'll get your own key so it's very flexible. Alvaro gives great tips on restaurants. A perfect place to stay!

We spent 3 nights in this charming old house, which is well-equipped, including a nice garden. The location is very good, all the interesting things in Porto are in a short walking distance. The price is fair and the host is welcoming and helpful.

As other reviews mention, Alvaro's effusive welcome is one of many great personal touches staying in Case dos Guindais. We stayed in the Douro room for 3 nights in late October, with a small balcony overlooking the well-kept garden below and the Ponta Luiz. The room was clean and well-appointed, with a fantastic wet room shower overlooking the bridge.

The location of the Casa is good, only 5–10 mins walk to the Ribeira waterfront (down a fairly steep set of steps)...although we didn't get a chance to see half of the sights, or try half of the restaurants, Alvaro recommended! We can thoroughly recommend a trip on the metro to Matasinhos if you want good, fresh fish though.

We can thoroughly recommend Case dos Guindais (and Porto in general) and look forward to a return visit soon!

We stayed for a week with two other couples and it was the perfect place as we each had our separate spaces. Our room which faced the street and had the most space. We enjoyed the garden area and the modern design. Alvero was very helpful
And the glasses of Port was a nice touch. We would definitely stay again.
