“Hmmm tasty”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

A busy restaurant with a good atmosphere and good value, tasty food. We found we needed to book for a Saturday evening dinner. Friendly and efficient staff. What more could you want for an informal night out with friends?

“Perfect Experience”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

Thanks to Antonio, the owner, for providing us with not only the best food, but taking care of us as if we were family. From the moment we entered this quaint, charming restaurant, he took care of us. I wanted a pasta, my husband wanted meat (hadn't had meat for 3 weeks of our travel). Antonio prepared perhaps the best pasta dish with huge prawns, and mouth-watering filet wrapped in pastry, cheese and ham (like beef wellington but no liver). It was fantastic. The wine terrific, and desserts scrumptious. Then when he heard we were going up to Pinhao in the Douro Valley next, he took the time to write down restaurants, quintas for port tasting, and other suggestions for us.(which we followed completely, and LOVED). Thank you for a very special evening that we will remember. We will be back when we come back to this wonderful part of Portugal.

“Ideal food and atmosphere”
Reviewed 16 July 2014

Ate at Casa da Foz on a cool July evening when we were feeling tired and hungry after a full day shopping. It was wonderful, I adore simple Italian food and this did not disappoint. The menu choice was enormous and the smell as you walked in was warming and inviting. I chose the old favourite Spaghetti Bolognese because simple good pasta always hits the spot and this one certainly did. The spaghetti was perfectly el dente and the sauce of a perfect consistency to cover the pasta - it was delicious. My husband who is not overly keen on pasta chose the beef Wellington cooked rare, it arrived on a large plate with vegetables and perfectly cooked chips. It looked fantastic the meat was perfectly pink, the pastry golden and flakey and the piece I managed to steal was divine.we had a wonderful evening the service was excellent although the restaurant was full, the atmosphere buzzing and mine host entertaining. A really lovely end to busy day.

“Good Italian, Charming Owner”

We stayed a few doors down from Casa de Foz and wanted a change from the Portuguese food we had been eating for 10 days. We really enjoyed our dinner. The white sangria was fantastic!
