I decided to go to Palco as the reviews I read on Tripadvisor were very positive and I had nothing planned for the weekend. And I certainly was not disappointed.

The atmosphere was a bit dark but veyr well decorated with a lot of care for details. The staff was always professinal and willing to assist you when needed (be it more bread, appetizers, etc).

We had scallops - certainly a highlight - followed by deer along with codfish and both dishes were superb. However the best came with the desert - chocolate desert - which was composed of several textures of the ingredient.

Overall I spent around 70 Eur for 2 people including water only.

I strongly recommend it!

We ate here on our first night in Porto. We ate the tasting menu, which didn't disappoint. The staff were attentive, but not in your face. No single course was a failure, they all managed to tickle the taste buds deliciously. We had the wine to accompany each course. This was a great accompaniment to food, well chosen and described each time. A small description of each course was left on the table. This was a nice touch as we could check what we were eating, even after the waitress' description . Well done Palco.

We went on our last night in Portugal and it was by far the best meal we had. The restaurant is gorgeous, quiet with refined and careful service. We had the tasting Dinner menu which was not overpriced at €44 for 6 small dishes, 2 seafood, 2 meat at 2 desserts. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Wine price was reasonable. Overall a great experience.

We had lunch at this restaurant. Service was good & fast. Delicious food. Tapas was served for lunch. We spent €40 for whole course lunch including dessert & coffee. Considering the restaurant is part of theatro hotel, we feel that the price is reasonable.
We notice there's a note in the menu, for customer to complaint, they can write in complaint book. We would suggest the restaurant to change the terms to more positive tone such as feedback as other than receiving complaint(s) only, it is nice to receive compliment too for staff moral and service improvement.

The word 'disappointeing' comes to mind when thinking about our experience here. Where to begin? Let's start with the appetizer: we ordered the scallops and crab appetizer - this turned out to be 2 small-sized scallops + 1 small piece of crab wrapped in avocado. They were tasty but nothing spectacular, and for the price we were expecting better. Then came the main course - the suckling pig entree was comprised of a small square or pork loin and a small medallion of suckling pig. While not bad, I would have preferred a pulled pork sandwich over my entree at that moment (if you are from London, there are places such as Roast that prepare pork much better and for a similar price). For dessert, we had guava fondant - this was not bad but didn't impress either, when compared to the dessert from another Porto establishment we tried the previous night.

On the plus side - the coffee was good value for money and came with chocolates. Also, the staff were attentive.
