“Great location but they charge for wifi!”
Reviewed 6 December 2013

Checking in was nice - the front desk folks are very nice and eager to help. We stayed here for 3 nights and all them were very helpful. Specially all the Marias! The room was small but the double bed was nice and firm after a full days walking around. There is no fridge or micro in the room and they charge for wifi but who in his right mind is willing to pay for wifi in a hotel these days? Wifi is free everywhere and near by you can walk to a coffee shop and check you email even outside as their signal is so strong. Even in our room which was on the 4th floor front, I got a coffee shop wifi with ease.
Location is excellent with nice shops and restaurants nearby. Hop on hop off bus stops right out side the hotel. The cab from the train station to the hotel costs Euro 7. The breakfast was included and was nice. Things were always replanished quickly and the workers there were efficient. Nice variety of breads, hot scrambled eggs, sausages, boiled eggs, fruits, juice, cheese, yogurt and coffee/tea.
We would definitly stay here again and enjoy this beautiful city of Porto.

Happy with everything in this hotel but I cannot understand the need to charge for WiFi. At this stage of IT Development, hotels should not be charging for WiFi when they're already charging for providing basic facilities of "a home from home".

Very good hotel within walking distance of anywhere you will want in Porto. A number of nearby places for breakfast, which was around 2 euros a person. Rooms were medium sized and very comfortable. The hotel overlooks a busy square but noise is not a problem. It is about a 5 minute walk from the railway station and metro. Main shopping area is on the doorstep

Great location, very close to the center, helpful staff, clean room. We had a room without view, but rather quiet, only seagulls made a noise. The only problem is paid internet (5 Euro for 24 hours) which is really annoying, since every time I switch on my computer, I have to write down login and password again. My complain is really not much about the price, but obsolete solution, in the time where in the café around the corner you have free internet with any problems.

The hotel is just average. From my own experience, my advice is: never accept Mr. Fernando Magalhaes tour services offered in the hotel reception. We first asked in the front desk about renting a car, but the receptionist offered us a tour service to take us (5 people) to Santiago de Compostela (Spain), Vigo (Spain), and Viana do Castelo. However, the ride became a torture, because the driver, Mr. Fernando Magalhaes, made the roundtrip Porto-Santiago de Compostela in 9 hours, instead of the promised 5 hours. Also, he just left us 1 hour to visit Santiago de Compostela and did not take the group to the main attraction in Viana do Castelo, besides not taking the group to Vigo. The tour was expensive and was paid as agreed. But Mr. Fernando Magalahes did not fulfill his promises, which were advertised in a flyer.

Room Tip: Ask for a view to the Praça da Batalha.

My big bug about this place is that WiFi was not free. really..... We were on two week trip and this the only hotel that charged for WiFi.
The room was clean and the location was ok.
The overnight stay was perfectly fine as was the breakfast buffet.

Rooms are great and confortable. It includes coffee and tea in the room, although I would have prefered a breakfast at the cafeteria. I have to admit that one of the things I loved was the great bodywash and soaps available!! Hot water always available too. Doors tend to slam shut by themselves, so if your an extra light sleeper it may bother you once the cleaning services starts (mostly in the evening after checkout) but other than that its very quiet. We didnt get a good view but if its important to you its worth asking for since the hotel is located in a high spot in town. Parking is close to the hotel for an extra fee. Paid for Wi-Fi in rooms.
