very traditional, it is a great picture of how things used to be...
when in Porto....just go there and experience a bit of nostalgia

Very touristic spot... There are very nice restaurants but ther are several with better service, food and price!

This could be described as the heart of Porto. A beautiful place to stroll in the afternoon at night after a filling dinner. It is a little touristy but most popular places are. The view of the bridge from down here is perfect. Really love the colourful building and the decorative titles.

I can't speak for the souvenir shops, but they seem similar the world over. Of course prices were rather higher in the cafés - you pay for the situation. But service was fine everywhere we went and our sandwiches were OK. The upper-level restaurants looked really nice though we ran out of time so didn't try one.

The police were very much in evidence and not doing much for the ambiance. They seemed to be at odds with everyone - taxis, buskers, restaurateurs... They need to get round a table and come to some working relationship. Tourists want happy places.
