“Packed like sardines”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

Portugal is famous for its tinned sardines. Maybe they got the idea in this district, where taxation dictate narrow, elongated structures. Each unit is < 10 m wide so you see these buildings stacked up in a unique, picturesque profusion.

“Expensive but pretty”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

Ribeira has amazing views over the river Douro and Vila Nova de Gaya, also a lot of souvenir shops and restaurants. It is nice to stroll there in the evening, but I wouldn't recommend eating there as the prices are at least 30 percent higher then a bit further in town.

“Quite touristy”
Reviewed 2 July 2014

It was quite 'touristy' down on the river, but to be honest - a really nice place to sit and have a few drinks in the sun.

“A must go”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

You must go to this area, stroll around, definitely do the wine tasting. Sit down in a cafe, enjoy the people, and ambiance.

“Must Go”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

This is what Porto is about. This is a fantastic place to discover. In a busy city seated on a hill, you will find yourself in a flat surface next to the river in a relaxed environment and with lots to see, buy, eat and things to do and enjoy yourself.
