The hotel is very nice, located in the city center of Porto, close to all the main attractions.
The hotel staff is fantastic, very nice and helpful, specially bellboy and the person who takes care of the parking.
Good value for money, I definitely recommend it

The staff was very polite and friendly, but also efficient: checking in just took a minute. The lobby and dinner room will set you back into a 19th century colonial mansion, with big plush sofas, chandeliers, marble columns, and so on -- everything nicely renovated and cared for. Our room was clean and comfortable, we stayed with 2 children under 4 and there was no problem at all.

Dinner was great with a big variety of carefully composed dishes. You will find better food in an upscale restaurant, but the server, the setting, and the low price made up for it.

There was a huge breakfast buffet though the variety was average. But also here: friendly and efficient staff made it a nice experience.

The Grande Hotel do Porto was the hotel we stayed at during our time in Porto. After staying in a bare-bones apartment, it was certainly a flip of the switch to this classy, Victorian style hotel. With a tea parlor, library, and study on the ground floor, each with old-school furniture, artwork and books, it makes one feel like they just warped back to the mid-1800′s. Reasonably priced at around 103 Euros ($150) a night for a very solid, clean three bed room, it’s actually a pretty cool place to stay win a good location without burning a hole in your wallet. The complimentary breakfast in the morning is served in a highly ornamented dining/ballroom and was one of the more extensive free breakfast buffets offerings that I’ve seen. (Note: This hotel is at the top of the hill and while it’s a very easy 15 minute walk to get down to the main sights, the walk back up the hill to get back to the hotel can be a bit of a challenge after a long day.)

The room was small and the corridors a little gloomy, but this is a charming hotel. All of the staff were incredibly helpful, very good at their job, and seem to speak at least four languages. The shared spaces are full of period character, with a quirky little 'Windsor Bar', with pictures of the 1930s British Royal family on the wall, and a large, multicoloured Andy Warholesque print of Queen Elizabeth II, and a grand, chandeliered Restaurant which provides a huge selection at breakfast, and excellent (and very reasonably-priced) evening meals, with quite old-fashioned but very amiable formal service from its waiters. The corridors and stairwells contain fascinating displays of the hotel's grand past.
And best of all, you step out onto one of the main shopping streets in Porto, with the Café Majestic a stone's throw away, the lively Bolhão market just around the corner, and tram, metro and bus stops very near at hand.

Room Tip: Prices are very reasonable if you shop around on the net.

Hotel was lovely with clean rooms which were small. Breakfast was included and was a buffet with both hot foods, pastries, meats, cheeses, yogurt, etc. Common areas were comfortable. Parking was not available when we arrived and we parked about two blocks away. Also access to the hotel with a car is a challenge as the street is mostly a "walking" street. Internet and parking were extra, although they gave us a voucher for the parking which made it reasonable, 6 euros/day. We parked the car and walked all over Porto. Staff was helpful and responded to our requests but some were not too warm. Would stay there again.

Good location, the public areas, the reception, restaurant were fantastic, it was plain to see why it is called 'Grande'. The rooms were as described in various guides, 'functional'. Nothing spectacular but was clean and everything we need were there, and also quite spacious so we were pretty happy. Thought it may be noisy in the evening but rooms were located away from the main street and was quiet. Great location to get around in the city too. There was a small terrace on the 3rd Floor, shame there was no bar there.
