“Funicular - more like a mini roller coaster!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2014

This fun, funicular lets you take a ride up or down to the Douro riverside in Porto. It is well worth the couple of Euros to save your tired legs at the end of the day. It makes going down to the river for a drink or dinner just so easy. Great views of the river, bridge and the port wine tasting area across the river.

“Gets you up the hill”

I guess that is what it's there for but not really a tourist event in my view. Very good for saving time and tired legs though

“take it .”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2014

From Av. Diogo Leite we wanted to get back to to the upper deck of the Luis bridge (see separate review) in order to take the train from Metro Morro station to Casa Da Musica .
We bought tickets for the Funicular . The tickets included a promotional pass for Port wine tasting at the neighboring Quevedo Port Wine Cellars so before mounting the funicular we added a taste of Port Wine to our short journey in the sky .The ride itself is very short , unfolding a spectacular panorama infront of you while you let your legs muscles rest a bit .
Take the ride .

“Respite from stairs”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2014

After walking all day, and tasting a few Ports across the river, it was nice to not have to climb a hill. It was in a good location if one is coming over the bridge and puts you in an ok location on top. Not as fun as the old ones in Lisbon.

“EUR2 each way”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2014

Worth a visit. You get good views of the Ponta Luis opposite for photographs and it's cheaper than taking the steps if you factor in the cost of refreshments after the climb! Handy for the Station. Takes two or three minutes.
