As i am the 100th person reviewing this great hotel all has already been said! Wonderful spot in an amazing city which is worth several days exploring. We were en route to the Camino Portugues and what a great start we got here!

Stayed at the Hotel de Paris for two nights in late Sep. When I arrived and handed over the prepaid voucher in the reception, it turned out I had mixed up the dates and my booking was in effect for two days later. No problem, no bureacracy or paper work, we got the last room and everybody was happy. Big thanks to the receptionist! The rooms are accurately described in earlier reviews: Quite basic but clean and with ok beds. Satisfactory bathrooms. The breakfast buffet was quite good, fresh rolls and some hot selections, though the orange juice was watered-out. A few tables outside in the adjoining garden. Would certainly stay there again and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to a friend. Very good value.

well I read all the reviews and I must say it was great to have a wonderful place to stay.
it was clean, very clean. The staff were so firendly and helpful. I loved the fact that it was an old place and it had such charm. People says it was old but when they take such great care of the place it wonderful.
They have internet use and if case your forget your hair dryer they have some to use.
The breakfast was great. and it says alot that its in the middle of everything and people return each year. from the airport its about 17 euros for a taxi as well.
They are great we will be going back for our next trip.

This old style hotel is just off the main boulevard in Porto and near the landmark Clerigos church. An eighteenth century building in a typical Porto street with easy access to the university district where trendy Porto folk increasingly hang out. The rooms are basic - absolutely no frills. On their own, I wouldn't wax lyrical. But the communal areas and level of service are what I'd recommend in no uncertain terms. The breakfast room opening on to an internal garden courtyard makes a very romantic start to the day. The corridors are stuffed full of props including statues and a piano. Most of the guests seemed to be European - maybe this sort of charm appeals to Europeans more than Americans. It's definitely not a corporate type hotel - so don't go if you like a brand hotel experience. It will not work for you.

Porto was our first stop on our trip and after a long overnight flight from Seattle, we arrived in the morning and were warmly greeted and well taken care of our entire stay. Our room was nice, with a view back towards the river that was lovely. We were on the third floor with a little balcony. For the price, the room was spacious and simple. The treats are the building itself, with wonderful stairways and suprises, and the amazing breakfast. It's a lovely treat - lots of great choices and specials of the day - all included in the room cost. And in an elegant ballroom of a breakfast hall, or the tranquil garden.

The only suprise we had was that Porto itself has so many birds. We were awakened to the calls of everything from seagulls to sparrows, but we realized that meant even in the middle of summer, we never saw a mosquito or any other kind of bug!

Great location. Loved Porto and loved the location of this hotel.

Entry and reception are lovely. The rooms not quite as nice.

The rooms were very simple. Cheaply done. Lights were very dim - you couldn't read by them. Must be the power in general as had problem recharging phones and cameras (maybe not the fault of the hotel).

Bathroom fine - again, fairly cheaply done but clean.

Beds ok.

I was travelling with a Peruvian friend. They bent over backwards to help her, but were't quite as friendly or helpful to me. Then again, I was leaving early in the morning - so got the non-english speaking night guy who was positively unhelpful.

There's a car parking station at the end of the street which is very handy.

When I arrived at this hotel, I though 'Wow!'. The entrance and lobby are both very grand and the public parts of the hotel are also impressive. However, the rooms are quite basic for what you are paying for. The service is exemplary and the breakfast is very good with a lot of choice. The location of the hotel is great, about 100 yards from the main square and a few minutes from the major tourist sites.
