We stayed here for 3 nights this August, and though the interiors (and especially the bathroom) are somewhat worn out, and the bed is squeaky and a but uncomfy, we enjoyed our time here. Closeness to the centre (though a bit father than i expected), good breakfast, perfect free wifi connection in the room, well disposed and helpful lady at reception - it all has been a good value for money. Besides, there's a supermarket close, and a large food court that, unfortunately, we discovered too late (being not big fans of fried sardines:-)

Stayed a couple of nights on a touring holiday, and it was easy to find. This hotel is very conveniently located, a short walk from the central historical sites and being able to safely park the bike underground was great too. Reception were helpful and polite, and there were free internet computers in the bar / lounge.

You are a short walk from the Metro but for 2 days we enjoyed walking everywhere apart from using an open-top tour bus once (oh, and boat and a cable car).

Our room faced the street and was a bit dated but clean, comfortable and functional. Everything worked as it should but the bathroom in particular looked like it had been many years since it was refreshed. There weren't enough hangers or power points (always an issue in hotels, why do they assume you are not going to bring your phone / iPod charger / PC / SatNav..?)

Overall it was good value considering the location. I wouldn't neccessarily recommend this hotel for a luxurious or romantic long-weekend, it isn't that sort of place but it was absolutely fine for a couple of nights on a tour. I'd certainly use it again.

The location is just perfect. 20 min. walking distance to the river and 3 min to the commercial street Via Catarina.
Accomodation is also perfect. Rooms are well-equipped. Service at the reception - professional and really helpful (exellent coffee at the bar).. I do recommend this hotel for all kind of travellers (business trip, family trip etc.).
The only tiny thing missing is the wi-fi in rooms.

For my opinion hotel situated at very good point. Close to the metro (5 min walk), in the old city (we didn't have to take any transport to walk around even to the river you can get by foot in reasonable time) and nearby, 1 minute walk in the commercial centre (on your right if going from the hotel) there is a minimarket. It honestly earned 3* so the rooms not too big, but clean and well maintained. Breakfast was an ok: cereals, pastry, cheeses, ham, juice, hot beverages and yogurts (-: . Concierges trying to help but not too knowledgeable. All in all good value and definitely good stay. BTW, as for security, area is in generally safe as rest of Portugal. We usually returned before 9pm and didn't encounter any problems. Recommended.
Tip: If you plan to visit more than few museums, porto card is a good value (better than Lisboa card), we used it for 24h, you can buy it at information center at Praca General…
From Port vineries, we have been to Calem – it has nice tour.

This hotel was VERY easy to find and get to from the airport. We took the 30 min. metro ride for 2.30 euro, it was a few short blocks walk, located near the heart of the city centre. The staff, particularly, George, were extremely helpful. We had a balcony (although very small), tub with hot shower, and two twin beds. I had a hard time sleeping, the beds are thin and the pillows even thinner. We were there for 3 nights, and it was well worth the price (38 euro per night), with continental breakfast included (fruit, rolls, cereal, yogurt, ham & cheese. Coffee, Tea, juice and water). I booked through Venere.com...WARNING, they sent a confirmation but it was NOT confirmed. George explained what venere did and fortunately, still honored the price. We also could walk to the river, and caves de vihno (wine tasting houses). We felt very welcomed at this hotel and the beautiful city of Porto.

As earlier reviews once we found it the hotel staff could not have been more friendly. First night we struggled with the air on but the staff were very prompt in sorting that. The hotel is close to a number of s hopping centers where food is available at a reasonable cost to 10pm most nights. Well worth a walk to Porto do Infanta and then walk along the banks of the Duoro towards the centre and the Port Me rchants.

Room Tip: Ask for one that does not face either of the streets. The hotel is on a corner. X10 through x18 whic...

We have just had 3 nights in this Hotel which we found very pleasant. The reception staff were great and nothing was too much for them and they all spoke good english. In the review we did read that all rooms had balcony and mini bars, ours had neither. Upon asking the reception staff they said the web site needed updating. We felt the lounge room, which was lovely, and the bar area could have done with some background music etc but was told the owners would not provide this because of the cost. I think if they did this more people would use the facilities. We used the bar which was 24 hours and run by reception very nice and the lounge area was comfortable. The cost of drinks in the hotel was very good compared to other hotels. In the immediate area we didnt think there was too much to do, no bars etc but we did eventually find some nice restaurants.
The room was clean but small and there was no bath just some sort of shower base but it was adequate for a short stay.
All in all we did like the hotel and we would certainly stay again.

Room Tip: Our room was very quiet and good air conditioning, very noise first thing in a morning though with p...
