Beautiful winery, with an excellent tour, quite different from the other 2 we did. Besides the visit to the cellars, you see a good film about growing grapes for port in the Douro Valley, also about the port production. Only cost 5 euros. Also toured Taylors, fine but a bit snooty, and Offney, poor tour with average ports. Ramos Pinto tasting room is lovely, with nice artwork for sale. Very tasty port! A wonderful visit and not so crowded as some of the lodges were.

The tour takes about 45 mins and costs 5 Euros. They conduct the tours in multiple languages so you just need to drop in and ask when the next tour in your preferred language is available. We knew very little about Port wine when we arrived in Porto so this tour was an excellent way to kick off our day and introduce us to industry the city is so well known for. The tour covers not only the history of Ramos Pinto but also the process whereby the grapes are cultivated, the fermentation and ageing process, the various types of Port wine and much more. We learned a great deal from our friendly and informative guide.

A visit to Ramos Pinto Porthouse is recommended.
You will have an excursion through the house, starting with a visit in the museum of Ramos Pinto, afterwards you are going to the cellar and there will be a film about making port. At the end you can taste an excellent white and red port.
If you have a ticket of the red hop-on/hop-off bus the entrance is free. Otherwise you pay approx. 3 euros.

I went to Porto with my boyfriend in October 2012 and spent an afternoon taking in the sights of Porto before heading across the Duoro River to enjoy a tipple at a few port wine houses. The Ramos Pinto house and tour was our favourite!

The house is located along the waterfront and is large enough to accommodate a lot of guests. They offer various wine tastings and guided museum tours in multiple languages. We took part in a museum tour and found our tour operator informative and friendly. The history of Ramos Pinto is quite prestigious and the tour included seeing the storage process for the wine, seeing historical documents, advertising methods and Pinto's private chambers. The tour also included a short video of the wider Ramos Pinto estate and history of how port wineries were created in the 17th century.

We also found the Ramos Pinto port wine's very enjoyable and drinkable. A very enjoyable afternoon that was both informative and fun!
