Even if you have no interest in photography the building itself is worth the visit and it is free. An old Jail which was notorious, holding many well known prisoners and only ceased being used as a prison in the 1970s. Historical info card available to read the background.
When we visited there were two great exhibitions of photos; one from the Portuguese Revolution in the 1970s and another of interesting photos through Porto windows as a theme. The permanent exhibition of cameras and equipment through the ages was also good.
