“Top Service, Perfect Location”
Reviewed 31 May 2014

The guest house is situated in the centre of Porto with all important places in the immediate neighbourhood. On the ground floor is a supermarket which makes that the guest house itself is difficult to find. (The supermarket is also the only negative thing that can be said about the neighbourhood has every morning goods are being delivered which definitely wakes one up verly early). The guest house is an old town house that has been divided in several rooms. It needs sole getting used to at first sight but all rooms are very clean and furnished in a modern and light way. You'll find everything you need.
The breakfast is served at the reception and has a variety of choices. Crepes, fresh bread, french toast, fresh fruit, cheese and ham, yoghurts, hot chocolate, espresso ... All one needs.
During the day water, coffee and tea can be made in the kitchen which you can enjoy with the rest of the cake. There is also a variety of drinks and snacks that can be bought if one desires.
The best side of the hotel however is probably the service of the staff. It's clear it is their pleasure and joy to make their guests feel at home. We were welcomed with a coffee and got an update of everything to see and do in Porto. At breakfast everything was explained in detail and in the evening they went to a lot of trouble to give us detailed information on where to eat and what to eat. This place is truly recommended for exploring old Porto.

Casa dos Loisos is well located, steps away from the Sao Bento rail station and within walking distance of all the tourist sites of Porto. Behind the historic facade is a very comfortable B&B. Rooms are very modern, small but efficient, and the original staircase and hallways have been restored and furnished with eclectic items. The breakfast area is large and opens onto an interior deck. Breakfasts are ample and good. Best of all, the Inez and Marco were extremely friendly and helpful, explaining Portuguese customs.suggesting restaurants and places to visit, not only in Porto, but across the country.

I would highly recommend Casa dos Loios if you are planning on visiting Porto. Everything about this B and B is great- from the attentive staff to the amazing rooms to the delicious breakfast!!! Stayed at another Shiadu boutique guesthouse also in Lisbon( Casa do Barrio) and all the staff are just wonderful. Marco and Annalecia and the entire team gave us wonderful advice and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. We stayed in the "Ruby" room which is just beautiful as well as very large ( about 600 sq. feet) The painted ceiling is breathtaking!!! Thank you to the entire Shiadu staff ( both in Porto and Lisbon) for making our visit to Portugal a trip to remember!!!

Room Tip: The Ruby Room is a very large room with two double beds and two bathrooms- great for a family.

We recently stayed 2 nights at Casa dos Loios and found it to be of very high quality in all aspects. The Casa is an old building that has been carefully renovated and modernized, preserving the historic character and quality of the house while at the same time providing spacious, quiet and comfortable rooms with modern amenities. The location is very central, just steps from the train station and a short walk to most of the city's main attraction. The service could not be better, from the communication during the reservation process, to the welcome and orientation, recommendations for sights and restaurants, to the cleanliness of the rooms and common areas, to the variety and quality of items served at breakfast, some of which were homemade by the staff each day. Marco and Inez spoke excellent English, were so friendly, helpful and always available. The size and character of the place give it the feel of a small top-end boutique hotel. There might less expensive places to stay in the city, but I can't imagine that any could offer a better experience in terms of location, service and overall quality of stay for the price.

We usually stay at hotels but chose this place because of its location , especially in relation to Sao Bento station - our arrival point. Just as well because it was raining heavily when we arrived. Marco and the team are so hospitable. The day we did a train ride up the Douro they sent us off with some water and a bag of fruit. The room was perfect and breakfast was more than adequate.

Fantastic service and a well run guesthouse. Breakfast was lovely, very clean, room great-funky decor, centrally located, staff helpful ....what's not to like!?

It is a short walk from the metro Sao Bento and train station, centrally located for walking to local attractions: Cathedral, Ribeira etc. In fact we walked most places during our 3 day stay, took the tram one day to the beach area. It is easy to get the metro from airport - transport infrastructure is good.

Underneath the guesthouse is a Mercado/shop which is useful for stocking up for the day if you don't want to eat out in one of the many surrounding cafes.

Staff v professional and attentive - thanks to Patricia and Marco who looked after us during our stay...I shall miss the pancakes and fresh fruit in the mornings!

I would definitely recommend (and have to a friend visiting in July) and we would happily stay there again!

Thanks again.

Room Tip: We had room 27? (last room on the corridor?) on the second floor overlooked the patio area a very co...
