I had totally different experiences for my two meals here in early October. The first one was positive, but the second was negative because of an inconsiderate fellow customer.
The name of the restaurant is an original one. I think that it translates into English as "mosaic of flavours." They serve a tasty board of goat and sheep cheeses. A more unusual aspect of the menu is that they serve cans of sardines, unusual given that freshness is often a sign of good food. Is this a Portuguese idea? I also enjoyed a glass of Douro red wine for €2.50.
The first occasion that I ate here was my very first evening in Portugal for 14 years. The waitress was very helpful in answering my questions about the city. Yes, I forgot to ask about the canned sardines!
I ate at one of the tables outside the restaurant again two evenings later. A fellow tourist on the next table blew her cigarette smoke over me totally unprovoked (if one can provoke someone into doing that). I have an allergy to smoke, but when I pointed that out to her other customers gave me such a dirty look. Surely, non-smokers have rights too?
