We had a brilliant time, the location of the accommodation is perfect, and the house was much bigger and better than we were expecting - there is lots to see and plenty of great restaurants within walking distance. We visited in December, and even with a bit of rain it was a brilliant holiday. Highly recommended!
Really well laid out three floor house with a most fantastic view. Made very welcome with essentials such as milk, bread butter etc supplied. House which overlooks the Duora is very convenient to wander down to the riverside restaurants or up to the centre of Porto. Only downside are the climbs, our legs and lungs got a good work out.
Things to do:-
Walk down to the river and then along its banks to the west to get the Number 18 team up to the city centre and work your way down.
Visit Fox for a seaside coffee and a cake.
Take a trip to Matosinos and feast on freshly barbequed sardines outside the fish market.
This beautifully appointed 3 level house with river views from the master bedroom, dining room & deck is only a short walk to a cluster of some of the best restaurants & cafes in Porto.
From the moment we walked in we felt right at home & the view of the River Douro is stunning!
I cannot recommend this property highly enough..
This house is charming - set over three floors with stunning views to the city and river. It is very well equipped and comfortable, with a balcony for enjoying outdoor dining and all mod cons. Modernised to a high standard yet still traditional in feel. The street is central but very quiet and there are reasonably priced and very good restaurants within a few minutes walk. I have no hesitation in recommending the house and Porto itself. We did not venture to the beach as we found plenty to do/see in the city. Next time!
This property is amazing! The view over the river is wonderful (and is exactly as shown in the ad). The apartment super clean and very interesting. It is obviously in an old building but the suite is completely renovated and feels brand new. It is set up almost like a ship, with no space wasted. It was very comfy for the four of us. We cooked while there and the kitchen, though small, was well equipped. Sofia met us upon arrival and she was most gracious. She responded promptly to our email question during our stay, and even arranged for a taxi to take us to the airport. The location is excellent for walking around Porto, which is a lovely city. We stayed only three days but wished we could have stayed longer. Three days wasn't enough in Porto and we felt so at home in the apartment that we really did not want to leave!
The house was amazing, immaculately clean and well planned, being on three levels. Sophia who looks after the property, met us in the early hours of the morning when we arrived. She had provided milk, bread and butter which was much appreciated as well as arranging for her son, a taxi driver, to collect us from the airport. In addition, shower gel and soap were also provided. The view of the river was stunning, and enjoying a glass of port whilst on the terrace at night was wonderful. Although the street where the house is situated would appear to be slightly run down, this seems to be typical of the city and adds to it's charm. Access to the water front takes 5-10 minutes and as the area has steep hills and cobble stones, we would recommend taking comfortable flat shoes for walking.
Both Camilla and Sofia were very helpful when we were planning our trip, and our email enquiries were always responded to promptly, making the stay extremely enjoyable. We would definitely visit again!
A charming house situated halfway up the steep Northern bank of the Douro, 76 Rua Tomas Gonzaga is perfectly positioned for reaching the bustling bars and restaurants of the squares above it and the banks of the river below. The view from the terrace is worth a few hours of your time. Everything is comfortable, well arranged and neatly kitted out and Sofia who manages the property was nothing but helpful and friendly. An ideal place to stay!
