The Eurostars was recommended as part of a conference that I was attending - it was a nice balance between price and location, close enough to be in 20-minute walking distance of most of the city, yet reasonably priced for the accommodations. The hotel is located on a secondary street with shopping and restaurants nearby, there is a three-block walk to busses and a 20-minute walk into the main portions of the city.

The desk staff was very helpful with directions and arranging transportation. There are some steps throughout the hotel, it is moderately accessible. Checkin was handled well, although rooms were not available for early arrival (before 2). There is a small lobby and larger bar - sitting area with computer terminals, the breakfast restaurant is downstairs. Although WiFi is free throughout the building, I could not pick it up and needed to work from the lobby (and slowly, at that).

Rooms are very good, with comfortable beds and nice appointments. There was in-room cable TV, safe, mini-bar, and a well-appointed and clean bathroom. There was good hot water and pressure. Breakfasts were exceptional, with a variety of hot and cold offerings, cereals and fruits, and a very courteous and attentive wait staff.

This was a nice hotel, quite modern in terms of style and decor and now catering more for the business client perhaps than the casual tourist. However, the rooms were a good size and well equipped. In recent years a large extension has been built to the rear of the main hotel so the garden you may see in old photos is no longer there!

The hotel is some 25/30 minutes walk from the river and although going there on foot is quite rewarding the return is best done by taxi as all roads back are very steep and only level out in the vicinity of the hotel. Fortunately, the cost of a cab from the Ribera is only 6/7 euros - you won't regret it!

The breakfasts are great, a full range of fare, cooked breakfasts, cold meats, cheese, pastries, fruit, cereal plus the usual hot and cold drinks - and they don't mind you going for seconds.

Reception staff were very welcoming and helped with our queries. they care about service here.

The nearest connection to the hotel from the airport is a 602 bus, which seems to take for ever as it circulates round the outer suburbs but in the end it stops in a nearby road 300m or so from the hotel. The 601 also passes quite close by and goes through the more modern and very upmarket area of Boavista - however, although this journey is quicker and takes in some of the motorway it still takes 45 minutes or so. On the way back both buses back to the airport can be picked up from the bus stop just south of the hotel around 400 m away round a corner at the end of Rua do Rosario. The alternative metro journey will involve a 15/20 minutes walk to Trinidade station, then maybe a 10-20 minute wait plus 30 mins or so journey time. If you are in a hurry take a cab.

Starting from the bad part, I've stayed in Eurostars des Arts in Christmas, 2010 and the city was pretty cold, but the air conditioning of the room just didn't heat enough, so I never had that good feeling of arriving in a warm room after a whole day in the cold weather. Also, the hotel is a 20 min walk from the center, close enough, but not in the center. And, if you arrive by car, they charge you extra to use the parking (I believe it were EUR12)
Now the good part, the staff was very friendly, always glad to help and very prepared to give info of what to do in the city. Apart from the heating problem, the room was very clean and modern. The breakfast was AMAZING, the best one of my trip to Portugal.
The cost-benefit of the hotel was excellent.

A 3-day stop in Porto was enjoyable here. The hotel is a little out of the way, but is definitely recommended. Walking distance to the old tram lines (worth a ride), and the airport public bus passes within 100m too. The city is a brisk walk, or bus journey, but there are some good restaurants nearby. Be wary that restaurants seem to appear and disappear quickly, so my AA travel guide was already out of date, despite being published within the last 12 months.. The hotel is modern and stylish, with local artists gallery in the foyer. The rooms are a good size, with wired (not wifi) internet included. The rates are good on octopustravel.

We booked a double+breakfast through booking.com for 81 euros on 10/12. The hotel has two buildings, we stayed at the newest one. Spacious room without enough toiletries and good breakfast, very friendly and knowledgable staff speaking good english. Very difficult to find it without a GPS. They did not charge us for parking - thanks to low season. Going downtown on foot is easy takes around 15 min. but going to the Ribeira (river's shore and top attractive touristic spot) takes more than 30 min. The main problem is how to return. The road back is very steepy and if you start from the Ribeira is extremely steepy since the hotel is on the top of a town's soft hill. Hiring a taxi seems to be inevitable - costs 5 euros. I would recommend it for younger guys.

The hotel is very modern and clean, staff is very friendly.
The location is just outside old centre but in walking distance of everything.
My only disappointment was the "romantic" option, the fruit basket was actually two small bowls, one with some basic grapes and one with two apples...

Nice hotel, not too large. Very helpful staff. Clean and okay rooms. No frills, but no complaints either.

Only location-wise not the best out there. It's a bit out of the historic center, and on top of a hill. However, that being said, taxis are dirt-cheap in Porto, so for a mere 5 or 6 euros you can get a ride back up there in the evening.

Would go there again.
