We really enjoyed our meal at LSD. We both had fish for mains and it was fantastic. The desserts were amazing. I had the Habanos - try it - cigar smoke included! Staff are very friendly and helpful. Great wines and ports. Thank you. If we're back in porto we'll visit.

After a day of walking. It was the time to pick a restaurant on a Sunday night in Porto. Not a easy task. When we enter, we were amaze by the decor and the smooth ambiance. The personnel were full of attention. The meal we chose was excellent and full of taste. The plates were nicly presented. Staff were speaking French and English, the wine list is very extensive and the price are realistic. We really have a great evening.

We came across LSD quite by accident having been turned away from a nearby restaurant that had been recommended to us. It's fresh and tasteful decor was informal and relaxed. The staff were all very helpful even although the uniforms of canary yellow tee shirts and denim dungarees seemed a bit incongruous.
We decided on our main course first, called Meat, Meat, Meat and served for two people. The staff did advise we would not need a starter but as we were both starving from a long days sightseeing we decided to share a portion of potato croquet which was just delightful.
The mains, beef served three ways was a tour de force. Little parcels of cream cheese wrapped in carpaccio were served in a vibrant "rocket water" and dressed with tiny micro salad leaves. Every mouthful was packed with well balanced flavour.
This was served along side the tartar which was perfectly seasoned to my taste, although my partner thought it just a bit too heavy on the mustard - but she was wrong. This came with thin slices of crisp bread which was a perfect accompaniment giving a lovely crunch to the dish.
The main course however was the star. A large steak cooked to medium rare perfection and thinly sliced on an attractive wooden platter along with a mountain of crispy golden chips. This was, without doubt the best steak and chips I have ever had. The meat was mouth-wateringly tender and full flavoured. A small dish of grain mustard was all the accompaniment that was needed so the side salad was a little superfluous for two committed carnivores, but we did try it and it was dressed beautifully.
By this time we were full but felt compelled to have a desert. My partner went for a chocolate parfait served with a salt caramel sauce. It looked huge when it arrived but as the hot sauce was poured on the chocolate disk covering the parfait it melted revealing a hollow cavity in the centre reducing the portion size to a near manageable size.
My desert however was incredible. A thick marshmallowy sauce with beautiful ice cream on top of a delightful compote of peaches. All of this was served in a glass jar which was filled with cigar smoke which when opened gave off a delightful, if somewhat surprising aroma. It had imparted flavour to the dish which was unusual but quite delightful and certainly memorable.
Full mark to LSD for a great dining experience.
