I have stayed in boavista recently for 2 nights with group of friends. Hotel is easy to reach & clean, with a lovely sun terrace. But the highlight of the place is staff working there. Our receptionist Andres couldnt be more helpful and accomodating, always welcoming us with a smile and good tips about Porto ;)

We stayed for 2 nights in this guest house. The staff was very nice, the room was clean and the bathroom was great, absolutely new. Location is also good, we felt safe even late at night and it was close to the metro. However, there was some mold in the closet (on the ceiling), which freaked my wife out, as she is allergic, so we kept the door closed. There was also some green mold on the terrace ceiling, but it didn't bother us as much.

We opted to upgrade to a superior room when we made our booking and were pleased we had as on arrival it appears that the superior rooms are the ones that have recently been re decorated as the rest of the rooms were very dated. The rooms are extremely basic but very clean and were cleaned every day during our stay. We also had new towels and toiletries daily. Air conditioned and very quiet. The bed was actually one of the most comfortable that we have ever slept in! There is a little outside seating area if you want to chill. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room so you could take a little travel kettle to improve the comfort factor. The staff here are absolutely fantastic and helped us so much with information and maps etc. If you need anything you can just ask them and they help you out. We got a hire car delivered to the guesthouse and they have an arrangement with a garage just up the road so you can park the car overnight. The staff left their desks to walk us to the garage to make sure we knew where it was ok. Sooo helpful! The location is absolutely fantastic. Very close to the metro so we were able to hop off the metro and 5 minutes later were at the guesthouse. It's well positioned to get into the main attractions. The breakfast was not anything special but was perfectly ok to start the day. There was a choice of croissants, rolls, cheeses, ham, yoghurts, cereals, and hot and cold drinks. We were very pleased with our stay here.

A mention about the restaurant next door. It didn't look very inspiring on first glance, but actually has a lovely rooftop terrace like a secret garden! We spent a couple of evenings up there and had the hugest glasses of brandy each for only 3 euros. The coffee was only 65 cents and also very nice. The food was also really delicious. We had salads and steaks which were huge, sparkling wine, beers, brandy and coffee and it worked out around 20 euros each.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a superior room for a more modern experience. Our party stayed in 26 and 28 both basic bu...

First impressions of the guest house were good, everything was very clean and the reception staff were very friendly and helpful but the rooms, room 13 anyway, really let the place down. Although spotlessly clean and with everything working, there is a serious lack of comfort. My room had a bed, a bedside table and a wardrobe but no chair or desk. The only place to sit was the bed. I don't spend a lot of time in my room when I travel but unfortunately on this trip the weather was really bad and it would have been nice to have somewhere comfortable to sit and because of the rain the communal terrace was a no go! The bathroom was also very impractical with a very small sink and no shelf or anywhere to put my things other than on the toilet cistern. My room was nothing like the one shown in the photo on here - it was like a UK seaside guest house 30 years ago. Breakfast was fine although they didn't put out cold milk for the cereals which seemed odd but they had it if you asked. However, I am not sure the breakfast was worth 5 euros a day. I didn't pay a lot of money to stay here but there were other guest houses/hotels on offer for a similar price and I think overall I could have got a better deal. I wouldn't stay there again.

Room Tip: La Casa de 3 restaurant behind the hotel is really good

It is a small guest house at a very convenient location to explore Porto. Room was a little bit old fashioned, but the staff were helpful and nice. They recommended us a nice local restaurant near the hotel named Casa de 3, which was really perfect.

The Guest House is easy to get to from the airport via the excellent Metro, this is a five minute walk. You can walk to the city from the guest House in 15 minutes.

The rooms are comfortable and quiet.

The staff are first class. They seem to love their job and are delighted when they can help you.

The value for money is outstanding. Money can be saved by following the advice of the staff.

Next door to the Guest House is a superb restaurante. The Diu.

My wife and myself are looking forward to visiting the Boavista Guest House again soon!

Room Tip: Just ask the staff. We asked for 'quiet'. We got 'quiet'.
