Really clean, lovely interior design with the exposed brick and wood.Close to bars restaurants etc.Our son arrived earlier in the day than us and was met by Carlos who made a really good impression on him.Carlos turned up on the day we left and it was a joy to talk to him.Would like to return but I am getting older and the hills don't excite me.Thank you for a very comfortable stay.

I don't usually write negative reviews on Tripadvisor, but I felt that I should make an exception in this case to warn other travellers from staying here.
During our stay in the Wine Apartments extensive building work was taking place in the adjacent building, to the extent that we couldn't actually hear each other speak when in the same room. The work was clearly established and when we asked the owners why we had not been warned about the disruption, they replied that if they had told people about the noise, no-one would stay with them. We experienced constant ear-splitting drilling throughout the day and the noise was so bad that we had to cut short our holiday as we really couldn't spend any time in the apartment.
To add to this, the apartment backed onto an internal courtyard where staff from the restaurant below us gathered to talk/shout into the early hours of the morning. Due to an inexplicable hole in the wall of the building, there was no way of shutting this noise out either.
Compared with so many previous excellent holiday experiences, we felt the owners let the hospitality business down and were more concerned with financial gain than looking after their guests, particularly as the compensation they offered was pitiful. It would have been so easy for them to warn us of the noise problem before we travelled, which would have allowed us to make alternative arrangements. I hope posting this helps other potential guests to avoid finding themselves in a similar situation.
We were so happily suprised when we arrived at this spotlessly clean, beautifully spacious apartment. Carlos was there to meet me and happily show me in and around. The apartment is right in the middle of the square with one of Porto's most highly acclaimed restaurant a few steps walk away. We had awesome live music outside our door, a wine bar and pub over the road and Carlos even left us a bottle of port as a welcome gift.
The apartment is all open plan with a single closed off bathroom. The large bed slept two of us comfortably and a third was on the fold out couch/bed which is just as comfortable - sheets and everything was provided.
Unfortunately we had loud construction noise outside our back window but this couldn't be helped, wouldn't be an ongoing concern and didn't detract from a brilliant stay in an incredible city. Highly, highly recommended.
