Bedrooms very clean and the bed really comfy. Staff at reception were fantastic, especially Sarah, and helped arrange two amazing evening meals booking tables for us directly with the restaurants. Wi-fi was good in the hotel and loved the motion detection lighting on the floors as eco-friendly. Cooked Breakfast (scrambled eggs, mushrooms, bacon and sausage) was good and the bread/jam and pastries were delicious. Location of the hotel was perfect in central Porto, near all the main attractions and Sao Bento metro station. So easy to get everywhere from the hotel. Loved the outdoor space with loungers in the lawn area. Great for having a juice or tea and sitting outside late afternoon. Tea/coffee/juice/water and peanuts available all day was great. Gym and roman bath pool on site - with showers and changing facilities available for guests even after checking out. Bath robes and slippers in the bedroom a lovely bonus!

Room Tip: Rooms away from Rua Flores quieter but excellent double glazing and PVC doors keep noise to a minimum

Firstly the location of the hotel is brilliant - right in the middle of Porto and near many good restaurants and bars. We got the tram from the airport which leaves you around about a 10 minute walk from the station to the hotel.

We arrived quite late at night but the hotel staff were friendly. Rooms are ok. Quite basic facilities though considering it is quite expensive. Very little storage and one of those prison like hairdryers that is attached to the wall. There was a mini bar which was well stocked.

The baths were great and had a lovely steam room and sauna. It never seemed to be that busy.

There was no bar in the hotel which I think is a bit of a shame considering the lovely communal areas.

What really lets this hotel down is breakfast. There is no person showing you to the seats so it is just chaos. Lots of people sitting at massive tables on there own. Unless you get down there at 8am you run the risk of having to wait for a table or ask someone if you can sit right next to them. Breakfast is a fairly basic buffet. Considering we were paying over £800 for 4 nights I think it should be a bit better than that.

We stayed in a suite as a family of four. The property is unique in that it is the medieval part of town, but the interior of the hotel is new and modern. Having said that, the rooms were placed in the footprint of an older building with some odd angles. The result is that some of the rooms, although large, felt a little small as the odd angles made for some tight spaces. Our bathroom, in particular, felt claustrophobic.

The room otherwise, was quite spacious with a bedroom with a double bed and a large living room with a table, two comfortable sofa beds and a full kitchen. They have a fancy lighting system which was a little fickle at times. The staff at the front desk was very helpful with making arrangements for airport transportation and dining reservations. The breakfast was quite good with plentiful options. Our kids liked the "pool" which is not really a pool, but more like a large spa at pool temperature. It was located in what appeared to be a basement area with cool, blue lighting making it feel a little like a cave - which was very appealing to the kids.

The location was excellent being near the train station and having many dining options nearby. We walked everywhere we went.

My only warning about this hotel is regarding rooms on the front side of the hotel. The front of the hotel is on a touristy pedestrian street. I had called before booking asking whether these rooms were quiet and was assured that they were. There was no traffic noise, but there are a lot of street performers. While we were there, a guy came everyday to play the accordion directly in front of the hotel. He played the same 20 second piece of music over and over for hours and hours. It got pretty annoying. There were also a fair amount of street noise from partying tourists late into the night. Having said that, this hotel extends back to the next street and there appear to be many rooms facing a pleasant interior courtyard which are sure to be very quiet.

Room Tip: Avoid front of hotel if possible

Beautiful hotel, wonderful staff, largest Jacuzzi ever and good coffee on tap. Any minor niggles were sorted immediately and happily. We stayed for 6 days and would happily return. A perfect destination for a long luxury weekend without blowing your budget

I really wanted to like this hotel. I did like it. However we had many plumbing issues. The sink was clogged the three days we were there; the shower hose broke and was fixed; as I sat on the toilet water from the room above dripped on me (eww). One morning my son (21) could not get out of the shower and my daughter had to help him, (awkward) and then my husband had the same thing happen to him. I am happy they did not get hurt. We did tell the manager about all of these issues at the time they occurred. We stayed here for three days.

We are a family of 4 and had booked a room to accommodate our needs. The room we had really did not do that. We needed a cot to make it work.

The general manager did offer 10% off which we graciously accepted. We feel that the hotel should have done more.

Breakfast was okay, not much of an assortment but adequate.

We loved Porto and the location of the hotel was fabulous.
