This little shop and tea room, between the A64 and Castle Howard is just about as good as it gets. Delicious home made cakes, savouries and high quality breads, it is well worth the detour.

Having received feedback from the owner of this establishment, I am satisfied that any concerns have been addressed & have changed my review rating. The building is attractive & the owner has clearly embraced a stringent work ethic over the years which has made the venture the successful one it is today.

I look forward to visiting Pattacakes every time I come to this area of Yorkshire ( I live in Dorset). The staff are always friendly and welcoming and the the food is amazing and uses mostly locally sourced ingredients. I adore all the baked products especially the bread, Florentines and other cakes!
How anyone could fault any aspect of this establishment is beyond belief!
Long may Pattacakes continue in its present vein.

We do not live local but visit at least once a month,North Yorkshire being our favourite place to be .
We cannot fault this lovely café/bakery,superb bread and cakes and lovely light lunches, and such friendly owner and staff..
There is a wonderful of beautiful cakes[ trying to try them all isn't easy!] and wonderful loaves of bread for sale,we always take several home [freezes really well ]
The fact our little dog is welcome and as we have seen is very popular with locals, tourists and walkers alike, makes it a busy place.
We love everything about this little gem of a place and hope it doesn't change too much in the future
