“Convenient hotel in central Brussels”
Reviewed 5 December 2013

Hotel was found conveniently located close to North Railway Staion and Metro lines it offered a large room and breakfast with very good value for money. Service quality, cleanliness and furniture on average (floor carpets would need to be refurbished).

The location of Chao chow palace is very good no one can ask for a better location. As soon as to go out of the Gare du Nord you will find it within a 2 minutes walk. The view of from my room was wonderful allowing natural sunlight to go into the room.

However the rooms are very badly maintained old furniture smelly room, no locks for the bathroom a shower that is not working fine. The internet is disastreous and expensive. The food on breakfast is not bad the basics. It looks like a family owned business which makes it nice and positive. But staffers speak with each other's in Chinese which is a bit annoying especially when you contact the reception for a certain complaint.

The hotel is located on the peripheries of the red district. Close to the train station a few minutes walk from the bus station, metro station and tram. If you are on business or on tourism with a a group of friend and not willing to spend much time in the hotel don't hesitate to pick Chao Chow.

Did one night here passing through. Being right near the train station and bordering the red light district may give you an idea of what the people are like in this neighborhood. Although, its not it the best of areas it still is pretty centrally located. It was about a 10minute walk to the Grand Place Market. The hotel itself is very standard. Overall i would recommend to a budget friendly traveling but overall I would probaly give it a pass and avoid this area all together. nov10

The hotel is conveniently located at a short walking distance from Rogier bus stop. Gare du Nord station is also at a walking distance. there is a super market which is very close also City2 mall is at a walking distance. it is pretty close to that part of the city where most monuments is located. in my opinion you can walk through the streets from the hotel to grand place and even further to grand sablon and even manekken (which i did).
The hotel rooms were decent and clean. so were the bathroom and toilet. my room was on the 7th floor facing the railway tracks but i wasn't disturbed by the trains.
The lady manager was very cooperative.
the breakfast was lavish.
Good value for money.

The hotel is extremely conveniently situated. The rooms are all fine and clean, the décor was not to my taste but I would not claim the rooms needed refurbishement. The staff were all helpful. Most of the breakfast did not look appetising (especially as I'm vegetarian) but they did have fried noodles with a range of condiments. Whilst an odd choice for breakfast, these were lovely and I looked forward to them every day!

The hotel was clean enough and did include a breakfast buffet for the price. It did the job, but it was near the red light district, so there wasn't a lot of places to eat nearby. It was a train ride from the city centre so it wasn't that convenient either.

This is not a luxury hotel however it is central and easy to find. The rooms are dated - the lift says that it was installed in 1992 and I would guess that no improvements have been made to the rest of the décor since this date. This said the bed linen and towels were clean and replaced daily. Yes the carpets are somewhat stained but I would not be happy to spend an extra £100 a night just for a nice carpet in the same area of town. The breakfast was great both a continental option and a Chinese one with noodles??!!?? Overall a great price for a central hotel - ideal for people that would rather spend their money out and about rather than sit in a posh room.
