“Fantastic!”
Reviewed 16 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We had such a great time in Casa Beni! The villa itself seemed to be magically designed so that it somehow wasn't too hot inside, which was amazing for the less heat-tolerant in our party, and of course the views are gorgeous.

We loved shopping in the village and really enjoyed the restaurants. But, speaking as the cook, I really appreciated all the things left for us in the kitchen. Time and time again, in other villas, I've had to go out and get olive oil and salt and pepper and balsamic vinegar and sugar and mustard and tea bags and sharper knives and dishwasher tablets and all sorts! On top of that there was wine to greet us, and even a packet of crisps to keep people going on the first evening while we were cooking. We felt really welcomed (and left a few things for the next people too).

No fresh milk in the village - as we expected - but we came prepared.

And no mosquitos! Woohoo!

We would highly recommend Casa Beni.

What a lovely review - thank you so much.
Cooking is just so easy in Spain because the basic ingredients are so fresh and lovely and to be able to buy fruit, vegetables, meat and fish in the village is wonderful. I always think that a few every day ingredients are important in a kitchen when one is only staying for a week or two. I always advise my guests to buy fresh milk and white wine before they arrive in the village as they haven't quite caught on there yet!!

“Perfect!”

We recently stayed here as part of a large family group, it was a christmas present from in laws.

The villa it situated in a small Spanish village around a hours drive from Malaga airport and directions supplied were very accurate, the drive up into the mountains ended up in many hairpin bends offering stunning scenery for the drive!

Initially we drove past the villa as we arrived at 2300 but once found not forgotten little tip go down the hill and there is parking bay outside the villa!

The villa itself is loverly with each bedroom and main dining room having aircon which was lovely seeing at it was 48 degrees in the day in the sun!, the bedroom were very comfy and homely. also the kitchen had everything you could possibly need for your stay.

Outside you have a large dining table for everyone to eat around and also some table and chairs for relaxing in the evening. The pool area is on a second level down some stairs and again was lovely we spent the whole time in the day in and around the pool.

We ventured down into the town twice in the week in the evening and too be honest nothing really starts until 2100, both restaurants were amazing and unbelievably cheap. We would recommend the BBQ restaurant in the market square and also the restaurant that specialises in goat both have lovely atmosphere and very family friendly.

Be aware that due to the rural location English is not really spoken but locals very very friendly and helpful so we got by!

There is a large supermarket on the road about when you come off the motorway before you start into the mountains which was brilliant and again very cheap.

Cant recommend this place enough and it has changed our outlook on holidaying in villas away from the sea!

Thank you so much for taking the time - and the effort- to write a review as it is greatly appreciated.
So glad that you all loved it out there and had a good time. It is a very special place and the views are so amazing and the local people so friendly.
The two restaurants you mentioned are La Maroma which is in the square and El Sociedad which serves the goat.
Thank you for all the tips to help future guests.
Gracias!

“Pleasantly remote with lots to do and see locally”

We spent a wonderful two weeks at Casa Beni which is beautifully located in Canillas de Aceituno. The views were breathtaking by day and we were in awe of the clear, starry skies at night. The villa was spacious and well equipped and the outside area afforded plenty of privacy. The village itself provided a real taste of Spain and a short car ride held ample sightseeing opportunities. Casa Beni is well worth a visit.

“A beautiful place to relax!”
Reviewed 2 September 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We travelled with four children aged 15 to 5. The villa was well equipped and comfortable with plenty of room for all of us. The views are fantastic. The pool provided hours of fun, and the terrace was so good I managed three books even with kids! Beds are comfortable which is very important too.

We will come again for sure.

Casa Beni provides an idyllic base for a relaxing breakin the mountains of Andalucia.
Views are amazing from the expansive terrace.
Pool is absolutely lovely - and big enough to swim properly.
Walk into the village aroiund 5 minutes ( yes steep hill so need to be fit , and a confident driver )
Canillas de Aceituno is a beautiful unspoilt white washed proper Spanish village untouched by tourism - welcoming and friendly.
Walk up to La Maroma ( mountain ) if you dare.
Drive to othervillages / coast / shopping centre not too far.
The villa itself is wonderfull and has everything you need - 3 comfortable bedrooms all with own bathroom. Lashings of hot water.
We would highly recommedn this villa.

“Beautiful villa in tourist-free village”
Reviewed 14 August 2012 for a stay in July 2012

Casa Beni is a lovely place to stay, sitting on the edge of a beautiful and quiet whitewashed village. I stayed for two weeks with my wife and our toddler, joined for the second week by my in laws, and the villa suited us very well. The three bedrooms are all spacious and comfortable, with a bathroom for each. The rest of the villa also excels with countless little touches, especially appreciated was the free wifi. Best of all however, was the expansive terrace and stunning views towards the sea. We never tired of our al fresco dining watching the sun go down each evening.

As mentioned in other reviews, the seclusion offered by the villa is reached via a 20 minute winding drive up the mountain finished off by a steep ascent that gave our hire car a good work out. Be warned if you're a nervous driver. This being said, we used the villa as a base to explore the area, visiting Antequera, the beaches at Nerja and the local villages toward Competa and found it all quite manageable.

The villa was well equipped for my daughter, with a gate over the stairs down to the pomeasly owing her the freedom she demands (!). The owners laid on a travel cot, and the air con meant that she was never too hot, despite 35 degree heat outside.

All in all, a most enjoyable stay.

“Perfect for relaxing and mixing with friendly locals”
Reviewed 23 July 2012 for a stay in June 2012

Stayed in Casa Beni for 2 weeks at the end of June 2012. Near perfect holiday. The villa is a real delight – it’s all the small touches that make it feel less like a rental and more like the home of a close friend. It’s clearly been decorated with care and taste so the kitchen comes with every fathomable cooking implement and the cupboards are stocked with locally written walking guides, good novels and more games than you can shake a stick at. The outside is just as comfortable - great pool - with a basketball hoop and table tennis for those with a more active approach to lazing about the villa. But best of all is the view, on a clear day from the enormous main terrace you can see across the mountain range to the north African coast. Many an hour was spent taking it in – complemented magnificently by glasses of cold fino and platefuls of big plump olives.
The villa can easily accommodate 6 people (3 double bedrooms). I decided to have a few days on my own first before a gang of friends arrived, this meant I had a chance to chill out and meet the locals in the village before my noisy lot descended. One of the best things about this villa is that even though it has beautiful unobstructed views (and is secluded enough to do bikini bottom only sunbathing for those with a penchant for that kind of thing) it is only 5 or 6 minute walk into the centre of the village. However a word of warning that walk involves a near 45 degree angle hill – fine for those firm of foot -but an interesting experience in a car laden with friends and bags - good clutch control is essential! I though Canillas de Aceituno was great – a village with a heart and sense of purpose (you’ll note there are actual youngish people here with children and some have jobs that don’t involve tourism – something unusual in other white pueblos in the slightly more touristy areas). It is good if you can speak a bit of Spanish – mine is poor but I gave it a go. There are two or three good restaurants, we spent most of our nights in a bar/restaurant called La Sociedad, and quite a few small shops some of which seem to have slightly bizarre product specialisations (fish and shoes for example…).
It’s rare that I would ever consider going back to the same place twice but I can honestly say Casa Beni and Canillas de Aceituno might just change that habit.
