We stayed in La Cala de Mejas for 2 weeks (Aug10-23/2013) and we used this cafe most nights for crepes ice cream, coffee and internet access. It all started on the first night when we heard a passing American accent remarking "this is the place that has the lovely creamy ice cream". She was right. Thereafter, instead of having a sweet at a restaurant, or indeed back at the villa, we would all troop up to SamSara for ice cream and crepes, and indeed internet access. It became a bit of a holiday ritual. I would like to say thank you to the staff who were most friendly and generous with their ice cream scoops and lashings of Nutella on the crepes - very affordable and of course the highest quality ingredients. Bon appetit everyone!

Visited this lovely cafe most days while we were on holidays in La Cala after reading the positive reviews on tripadvisor. Their homemade ice-cream is delicious and a real treat and the mojitos were amazing!! We found the food to be delicious and a great healthy lunch alternative, we were here while the fridge was out of order and while it was disappointing not to be able to get the food we totally understand that the fridge was just out of order!

What a fabulous café, great change from the usual baguettes and snack food everywhere else! Food is tasty and flavourful and the staff are very helpful! Mojitos are definitely the best in town!!!!

After the super reports, we visited last night. We were the only people there & the young girl serving looked up from her own food!! She evidently didn't seem to want our custom. We were eventually offered some bits & bobs, either hot or cold from the counter. I enquired how the hot food would be heated, "microwaved" was the response. We were advised that if we came back tomorrow there could be a better selection. We offered our excuses & left hurriedly.....

Firstly I must apologise for the clearly poor experience you had in our establishment. The treatment you received from our staff member was equally unacceptable and steps have been taken. I thank you for taking the time to highlight and inform the deficiencies in our business.

Unfortunately our refrigerated display broke down and I withdrew all the perishable items, in hindsight I should have cancelled all the food. It wont be fixed until Tuesday the 20th of August and we are not serving food in the meantime.

Our food service is mainly a lunchtime service, something that our staff member failed to explain. We cook fresh and on a daily basis, if we have a busy lunch often there is not an evening service, in the winter we close in the evenings and the summer evenings are about our home made ice cream, crepes and frappes.

With regards to the microwave we find it to be the most effective way of reheating the freshly cooked food, I think you will find this in most if not all tapas style bars.

Thanks again,

Phill Nuttall
