We have rented Hamilton House apartments for 5 years running to spend our Christmas and New year on the beautiful island of Antigua escaping both the UK winter weather and stresses of Christmas! Every home comfort provided, well equipped kitchen, aircon and fast free wifi, wonderful verandah with gas BBQ which is where we spent most of our at-home time. Beautiful views of the lovely pool and gardens but also including that turquoise sea and even the local birds became almost pets as we provided cake for them daily. Great support from the management team when needed. The convenience of the Epicurean supermarket, lots of restaurants in the close proximity of Jolly Harbour and with a car only 5 or 10 minutes to several of the best West coast paradise beaches. If you like the freedom of self-catering then personally we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else.
We stayed in an apartment at Hamilton House for 2 weeks. The apartments are a reasonable size, well priced and well located. They are not high luxury but have everything you need and are very comfortable. There are 4 apartments in the block, not all were occupied when we were there. It is within walking distance of Jolly Harbour but there is quite a busy road in between but its doable. Best to hire a car to get around anyway. On the negative side, the cooker is a little tired but we didn't use it much. The pool is a good size and we had it to ourselves some of the time. Visit Valley Church beach, a 5 min drive away. There's no one else there and its beautiful. Unfortunately we had hurricane Irma while we were there. Jenny, the property manager moved us from upstairs apartment 2 to downstairs apartment 4 and shuttered us in. Luckily it mostly passed Antigua by so were OK. Jenny was fantastic. I can't praise her enough. She phoned, visited and messaged us. She made calls for us, advised us what to do and not to do and checked on us. Howard, the owner in the UK, never tired of answering my many email enquiries before we went. He also arranged the car hire. I will go again- but not in hurricane season.
