We had a lovely week at the hotel, enjoying dinner at Captain's choice restaurant at sunset, the spa, the beach and the pools. Breakfast was amazing, lots and lots of choices. Room service was very good too. We told the hotel we were celebration our anniversary and got a surprise room decoration + fizzy wine + small cake. Staff were polite and helpful. Just the internet was a bit of a disappointment, but it did not spoil our stay.

Spent 10 nights with family of two adults and two teenage children in two ground floor poolside terrace rooms. This is a standard four star property so don't be expecting those little extra touches that you find in more luxurious properties. Staff are pleasant and cheerful and the hotel has a friendly feel to it. I was happy with the rooms as they were spacious and comfortable with plenty of cupboard space, mini bar fridge(well priced and with room for your own drinks too), flat screen TV and a large terrace overlooking the monkey pool ( however you will need a can of insect spray if you want to use the terrace). I have to say that the bathrooms were disappointing and let the place down as they really are a bit shabby and in desperate need of renovation. Also we found the wifi very slow and frustrating - the only time it worked well was very early in the morning or late at night. However all in all I would say the standard of accommodation was good, especially for the price. The hotel has two pools so there is plenty of space to relax and we had no trouble getting a lounge by the boat pool near the beach. Unfortunately the monkey pool was closed for renovation while we were there. Breakfast was the usual buffet affair with fruit, cereal, cold cuts, pancakes, egg station etc. Nothing special, but perfectly adequate. Staff were pleasant and brekky items were restocked as required. No complaints at all. I think this hotel represents very good value for money and is a good choice if you want to stay in Choeng Mon. Having said that I have to say that I found the beach at Choeng Mon disappointing. Yes it has nice soft white sand but the water is too shallow and I thought the beach quite unattractive when the tide was out. There are too many stray dogs roaming the beach and coming into the resorts too. I much prefer the beach at south Chaweng-just gorgeous! I also felt that Choeng Mon was a bit dull, and just too quiet for my liking. There are restaurants and some shops, but I preferred the lively vibe in Chaweng of an evening and it has much more choices for restaurants and bars. The hotel runs a free shuttle to Chaweng twice a day at 11.am and 4pm, but you have to pay 100 but pp each way in the evening unless you have eaten at the hotel restaurant . For us it was more convenient to just take a taxi at the time that suits us. Next time I will stay in Chaweng instead of paying to go there and back all the time . However I know some people do not like the noise and crowds in Chaweng - so if you prefer somewhere a bit quieter and just want to chill out by the pool or beach, then you may prefer Choeng Mon. And if you are looking for a decent hotel there, the Boathouse is certainly a nice hotel at a good price and an excellent choice for families. Just don't go there expecting luxury and you should be happy.

Made very welcome on arrival and shown immediately to our rooms. Spacious accommodation in a superior bedroom. Tea, coffee facilities in room - water provided free daily. Mini bar in fridge with soft drinks and snacks at a very reasonable price. However local shops have everything needed if you want extra drinks etc. Air conditioner worked very effectively and was needed every day. Staff were very friendly and made our stay extra special. Breakfast was buffet style with breakfast chef on hand to cook orders for eggs on request. Good variety on offer. Coffee and tea poured for you at your table. The Captain's Choice restaurant offers great selection of meals and snacks at lunch time. The dinner menu is varied and there are theme night on during the week. Staff inform customers about happy hours in this restaurant and also the bar near reception.
Spa staff offer massage on outdoor beds near the beach or there is an indoor spa. A minibus service is offered free to Fisherman's Village or at a small cost to and from Chewing.
My family and I enjoyed our stay here so much - we would all return and would recommend to friends.

Room Tip: Our room was a superior room on the upper level. The balcony was a good size with outdoor fan. Air c...

We arrived early morning to the island after a short transfer to the hotel, reception greeted us with a nice cold towel and a drink whilst checking in.

Shown to our room which was a little dated but clean and on the second floor. Once the receptionist had left we had a quick chat and phoned through to see costs for upgrade. Receptionist came back and took us to the boat houses. We fell in love with the 2 storey boat. Walked up some stairs and entered into a lovely fresh lounge area with sofa, chair, TV, air conditioning unit, fridge and small dining table then down some stairs to a dressing area with seating and wardrobes, safe with bathroom one end and king size bedroom the other and 2 further air con units
Just had to move which cost £40 per night - worth every penny as it gave you ability to relax after relaxing on the beach all day :-)

Pools were great as was the breakfast and the bar area by the pool where happy hour happened daily as the sun was going down. Beach was great, if a bit shallow but very clean. Lady cooking food on the beach daily at very reasonable prices, Baht 50 for a corn on the cob £1!! Also beach vendors that like to haggle but move on if you say polite no thanks.

Staff were lovely and helpful

We had a great time and would use the hotel again

Resort had a number of restaurants along the road which were good and a night market every Wednesday where wares and street food sold. Very good

Trip to Bohput/Fishermans Village for their market which is very large and busy but good experience. The restaurants were more up market at this resort and therefore more expensive but again worth a trip to

Chaweng very busy and numerous restaurants and bars and again worth visiting

Both cheap to get to by Taxi / Local van with seats and would recommend

Room Tip: Boat houses are worth the money

Yes our 11th consecutive trip to this hotel - why you may ask when they are so many places to go in the world but its like coming home to our second family. Rooms are lovely and always very clean. Staff are amazing from the cleaners up to management, all doing their jobs with a smile and they cant do enough to make your holiday special. a mention to Ami, Baw,Tip, Wee, Nam and Pla but there were many others, Doeke the manager has a great crew!. The breakfast caters for all needs and the Captains Table is perfect for lunch or dinner, our family had a great meal on the beach and the service was impecable a nice finish to our holiday.Hotel in a good location, right on the beach which is wonderful and safe for children, plenty of local restaurants to choose from, Karoes, Khur Thai, Orchid, Crystals, Charlie Chaplins and of course a trip to Cocktail King is a must at the end of the night, Short bus ride to Chewang if you want more of a lively night or Bho Bhut (Fishermans Village) Island View on the beach is another nice lunch venue.

Two swimming pools the boat pool which is on the beach and the monkey pool which is slightly quieter within the gardens, both lovely

All in all another perfect stay, if you want a chill out relaxing holiday this hotel would suits you well. Thankyou staff and management for another great stay, see you next year if not before

Myself & my two daughters stayed here last week....The Imperial is a wonderful resort, ideally placed in Koh Samui & away from all the hustle & bustle of the more popular places of the island - nice, chilled out...staff are excellent & very friendly, the manager is great.
Breakfast facilities are just right & beach setting is ideal with a two pool area's.
The rooms are a bit tired, but suitably adequate & the price of the stay here is perfect.
I would definately stay here again.

Room Tip: Superior rooms are more than adequate for a nice stay here
