We arrived at sala at the latter part of our honeymoon after 3 days in bangkok.
Wow just wow! We were amazed when we arrived at the lovely welcome area and gro waiting to check us in. This was more than a check in, we were overwhelmed with the kindness and generosity -a lovely arrival drink, followed by a dozen red roses for me, vouchers for a complimentary meal and massages! We were swiftly taken to our villa and the luggage followed shortly afterwards, not before we got champagne on ice and some chocolate treats delivered. I must admit I was so overwhelmed that when I was asked the pick our pillow types, soap and body lotion I didn't really know what I was being doing!
We thoroughly enjoyed our 9 night stay, sala life was just amazing, some of our highlights were Thai night at the hotel, we were lucky enough to speak with nick hall (executive chef) and thank him for all the wonderful food at breakfast, lunch and dinner but also our evening eat before bed, we were also looked after by Nes who was just a delight to speak with. Our trip round the island was great visiting the mummified monk, waterfalls, doing elephant trekking and a Thai cooking class and more. However the trip to Anthong marine national park was just fabulous, despite the early rise, it was a fantastic excursion and well worth the cost.
What more can I say the whole thing was just so out of this world, the villa, the luxury, the people, the beach, the pools, the entertainment, the cocktails (especially happy hour) all the little areas of attention to detail like the beach boys taking you to your sun beds, bringing fresh fruit and iced water all just exceeded our expectations and not like anything we have ever experienced before.
We hope to return to sala ASAP!

Room Tip: Sala pool villa is a bigger than garden pool villa so if you can the extra expense is worth it. Vill...

We booked the Honeymoon package, which included transfers, welcome, spa treatment, and private pool villa.

Firstly - The Staff.
A great team, so polite, so professional, yet the service was always personal and bespoke. 'Daniel' stood out as a great example of this. Dick the general manager has obviously set the right tone, and held on to the right people.

Secondly - The Resort
Well thought out, and some design ideas/architecture that just makes you stop and say... wow! From the floating pool, surrounded by a fish pond... To the inside/outside bathrooms in the villas, unbeatable.

The hotel went beyond everything we asked of it. Despite the high price tag, we both felt it was worth every single penny.

The spa was so luxurious, the transfers were incredibly comfortable, the free kayaks were entertaining, the food was excellent (well done Chef Nick), and breakfast in the room was a feast beyond the imagination.

Location is probably the only thing I haven't mentioned above... on a beachfront (rough sand), on a small bay, with only fairly light development (enough to give you choice and variety, but never tacky or over done), and only 15 minutes from the most unique, beautiful airport I've ever had the pleasure to use... I dont know what more we could have wanted.

SALA Samui is currently top of the list when we look to celebrate a major milestone in our new marriage.

We came from The Conrad Koh Samui to The Sala, and for about 5 minutes, I felt a little let down after such luxury. Within moments, that disappointment left us and we were in love with this place. We were on our honeymoon and were treated like the only guests in the world to have ever been on a honeymoon. Staff are fabulous, rooms are luxurious & clean, and you can be private or not depending on how you feel. We would definitely return.

I wouldn't hesitate recommending this hotel to anyone. From the minute we arrived and were greeted with a welcome drink and flower garland, the staff couldn't have done more. Every single member of the team we met - the restaurant/bar staff, pool staff, front of house, cleaning staff and shuttle bus drivers - were so polite and thoughtful. Thank you for making our trip so memorable!

We stayed in a large double room in one of the garden villas. The bed was super comfy, the day-bed great for lazing around and the outdoor bathroom was just beautiful. The rooms were always cleaned and tidied to a great standard, and the addition of your choice of body lotion in the room was a welcome addition.

The breakfast is hands-down the best hotel breakfast I have ever had. Great buffet selection and then a huge choice of dishes cooked to order. There was a lot of flexibility too, so if you wanted a couple of dishes to make a bigger breakfast or you wanted to eat your breakfast at lunchtime, you could do. Evening meals are very special at SALA too. The food is cooked beautifully and the atmosphere is lovely, overlooking the beach. The drinks and cocktails were very reasonable (especially at happy hour when the staff actively came and asked you if you wanted to drink anything) and the fresh fruit and iced water delivered to your sun-lounger made you feel very spoilt.

The pool area and beach are fantastic. We preferred the "black" pool as it tended to attract fewer children, but in any case, you never struggled to find a comfy spot to relax. There's a great bar at the far end of the beach and lots of spots to have a massage for about £4. Choeng Mon has a few bars and restaurants on the main street but our favourite by far was Krua Thai (look out for the oval blue sign, opposite the bar that is also a bookshop). The food was so tasty, great quality and so cheap! Equally, it's easy and relatively cheap (£8) to get a cab to Chaweng or Fisherman's Village if you want a bit more atmosphere.

I did the SALA cooking lesson and would highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys cooking. You learn to cook four different dishes and then get to eat them for lunch. You're then given a CD of recipes to take home so that you can try to recreate the magic back home!

Overall, a truly fantastic place to stay. I wish I was back there now...

From Bangkok we came to Sala Samui...The check-in was simple with a flowers for my wife and a nice refreshing drink. Our villa was shown to us by one of the stunning staff highlighting all of our facilities including outdoor bathroom and private pool.
The food each night was perfect, My wife enjoyed the seafood most nights while I prefered the meat dishes, both of us enjoy these kinds of food and there was anything but complaints...everything was cooked to absolute perfection.
The staff were attentive and polite, happy to join in with fun around the pool but knew when you wanted a romantic moment and some privacy.
Our final night I arranged a private meal on the beach, this had a small cost for the setup but was totally worth spending, candles lit the way to a secluded tent out by the sea, our own waitress brought each course out and would retreat to a distance where she was still there to help, but far enough away to feel totally alone in the most romantic setting.

There were people there with kids, dont expect an adult only hotel...if this is what you want...dont complain about it on here and put people off... just stay somewhere else!
The bars close at 22.00 so if you want a drink after, order them and take them to a table...apart from this, Sala Samui is an excellent hotel for a general holiday or a honeymoon...If you can afford it, stay here...if you can't, save!

Just completed the most wonderful 10 day stay at Sala Samui right in the middle of the country's monsoon season. If you are looking for a truly relaxing, pampered, luxurious stay in a gorgeous private villa, you have just found it. We took a double-villa with our own private pool - stunning. Nothing better than lazing the hours away in the privacy of your own pool/deck, and then re-joining society at your pleasure! The food (breakfast, lunch of dinner) was outstanding - seriously outstanding. The guest relations people were excellent. Dick Simarro, the Swedish manager, runs a really tight ship. We got 2 free full-body Thai massages thworn in for free due to booking early. This is a must-do! The bar on the beach serves the best mojito's I've had in years - and happy hour is actually three hours long!
Spoil yourself - this is genuinely it. We plan to return many times!

We stayed in the presidential villa and it was simply one of the best rooms I've ever stayed in. The villa was very big had great sea and a big privet pool.
The bathroom is open and in the back garden , simply the nicest bath I've ever seen.
The service in the resort is great friendly and helpful , the pools are great and because lots of the rooms have a privet pools the public pools are not busy . The resort it self is beautiful not very big and very we'll kept ( very clean, nice design and great gardening everywhere ) . Food in breakfast is very good and I would recommend to go out to eat or take away form the nice street in the back of the hotel . The location is a great place to start with a trip to koh samui since it's a very short drive to the air port.

I've stayed in 9 hotels in Thailand over the years, most of them high end - this is the best one ! A must visit place.
