I arrived at midday urgently needing to be at a function elsewhere shortly afterwards. There were no taxis available locally so the owner, Robin, offered to drive me - for which I was very grateful.
I returned in the evening and visited the bar. This was lovely with a great open fire and a warm atmosphere. There were some eccentric locals whom I soon got to know and had a lovely evening.
The bedroom was comfortable, in need of some up-dating, but adequate and exactly what you would expect in what is after all a lovely old building which would lose its character with too much modernisation. And it was not expensive!
In the morning the staff were extremely helpful with suggestions (they printed off directions) as to how to get to my next destination.
To summarise - this is not pretending to be a five star hotel - it does need some decorating here and there - but what it lacks in modern "amenities" it certainly makes up with charm and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone.More
