“nice place - beautiful neighbourhood”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 March 2012

We had lunch last Sunday in this nice little restaurant. There is a small yard just in front of with 10-12 tables. Portions were enormous. Great variety of tastes, mostly greek cuisine with a modern touch. Don't miss the salads which are impressive both in taste and appearance, and the unbeleivable fried potatoes. The white house wine was quite enjoyable and tasteful. Staff is very helpful. In general a very positive feeling after the end of the lunch. Would definitely recommend it especially for a sunny Sunday morning.

“Nice place with well cooked food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 February 2012

Kapari is a modern version af the greek tavern with many more interesting dishes to choose from. The food was very well cooked, the portions are big and the prices were pretty good.
We ordered pork with prunes whitch was the best i 've ever tasted, not too sweet, lasagna with mastello cheese from chios island, this one was average and iskeber dish with pita bread and tomato sauce pretty good.
I prefer it beacause the dishes are made with traditional products all over greece. Suggested by locals too.

“Very nice food from a modern but unpretentious little place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 October 2010

I am usually a little bit skeptical when friends suggest a modern version of a traditional Greek tavern but Kapari really was a delight!
Located in a small street in Ano Petralona, a purely residential area, it is a converted old house with tables situated both inside the building and outside in the yard. We managed to get a table in the yard (prior booking is highly recommended unless you want to risk waiting serious amounts of time), which was just excellent during this nice autumn evening.
The service was rather quick once we managed to get their attention to order but having in mind that the place was packed, waiting 5 minutes is not the end of the world.
The menu provides for a combination of traditional home-style cooled food with creative twists but I really enjoyed that the chef was keeping his experiments down to a minimum.
The spicy cheese salad (tyrokafteri me kopanisti) had an excellent intense taste. The green salad with haloumi cheese, honey and sesame was a really good choice and the grilled mushrooms were a hearty portion which we really enjoyed. I didn’t really enjoy the Cypriot Meatballs with Cheese since they were seriously undercooked.
For main I went for the burger (bifteki) filled with cheese and sun dried tomato and I have to admit that I really like it as well as the home-style fried potatoes that came with it. I tried my friends’ caramelised pork (pantseta) and the veal with béchamel in a clay pot. Both were nice although next time I would have gotten the grilled pantseta, that has a more intense taste.
At the end they treated us with excellent caramel ice cream served on brownies, which was an excellent touch.
To conclude, I really liked the place and I would highly recommend it for a quiet night out. The only downside was the lack of parking spaces since Ano Petralona is not really a place that you want to find yourself looking to park.
