Hotel Tony is one of the best not going to break the bank hotels. We arrived late due to British Airways loosing 85% of the passengers on the plains bags, but Tony greeted us anyways. He also was very helpful in giving us a map and recommending restaurants and sites that were worth our time. He also helped with the baggage mess and even called the airline, though they never picked up, to check on the bags. His staff is excellent and I loved the room. The bathroom was amazing and the fact they had hot water was a major plus. He is doing renovations so it shows he listens and actually cares about his customer feedback. His location is also amazing I highly recommend!

I'll be honest, we were pretty skeptical about this hotel when we drove up in the taxi. The neighborhood is your typical Athens neighborhood, and the hotel front is less than impressive. There was major construction (we were there in May, and it seems the renovations are complete now), which included the rooftop that we couldn't access. That being said, of the 5 hotels we stayed at in out 17 day trip to Greece, Hotel Tony was by FAR our favorite. The staff is beyond helpful; they called taxis, got us a hairdryer, and even offered to do our laundry (which they did, and had back to us within the hour!). The room was beautiful (the apartment), and the bathroom was easily the best hotel bathroom I've ever seen. The shower was wonderful (better than my own), and the decor was classy and comfortable. After about 9pm, the hotel was locked, and the only access was through a side door with a key code. It felt incredibly secure, and we never felt as if our belongings were at risk. The hotel was always fairly quiet, despite the construction. The location was wonderful, just a 10 minute walk to the Acropolis, and barely a 10 minute walk to several restaurants, grocery stores, and bakeries. I highly, highly recommend. We loved it so much that we've already booked out second stay for September.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less street noise, and pay more for the apartment. Very comfortable.

Excellent value for money. We arrived very late, but Tony ensured that he greeted us and showed us to our room. (I had read reports that there was no late check in but this is definitely not the case) We stayed in a Double room-studio with a balcony. Even though this only looked over the street it was very nice to relax on after a day of sightseeing. The room was beautifully renovated, very tastefully decorated and had a small kitchenette if you felt so inclined to prepare your own meals. Easy walk to restaurants and all the sights. Very quite area and the hotel itself is very peaceful. Could not fault our stay at all :)

I stayed at Tony’s Hotel three times in 2013 and several times before that; I was all set to post an enthusiastic review a few months ago. But when I logged in to TripAdvisor, I found they were displaying my real name!! I stayed away for quite some time until I found out why, and more about Facebook’s privacy settings. So this review is late, but better late than never…

Renovated or not, every room we’ve stayed in at Tony’s has been clean and comfortable. Between the main building and the annex around the corner, the hotel offers a variety of rooms with different combinations of beds. This is an advantage for people travelling in groups, say a family with a single friend. Bathrooms, especially in renovated rooms, are better-appointed than one might expect in hotels in Tony’s price range. The rooms are air-conditioned, many have a fridge, microwave, kettle, basic cutlery and dishes, and the WiFi works well. Tony’s is in a residential neighbourhood with grocery stores, bakeries etc., so it’s easy to buy drinks, fruit and snacks. We enjoyed homestyle meals at the Ambrosia restaurant located near the entrance to the Syngrou/Fix metro station and brought leftovers back to reheat.

If you arrive at Athens airport, it’s possible to take the metro and walk to Tony’s. Just be advised it’s a bit of an uphill climb—about 15 minutes--from the metro station to the hotel. Taxis are a good alternative, especially if your group has more than three people in it or your luggage is heavy. From Tony’s, you can easily walk to Dionysiou Aeropagitou, the pedestrian street that leads to the Acropolis, the Acropolis Museum, and Plaka. It’s an interesting route past Neoclassical mansions in various stages of restoration. If there’s a public transit strike, you won't be inconvenienced; you can still get to the ancient sites and Constitution Square. You can also walk up Philopappou Hill to the Dora Stratou Dance Theatre (May-Sept)--highly recommended.

Many of Athens’ fine hotels are located on main streets with traffic flowing day and night. Both the neighbourhood and Tony’s reasonably priced hotel are quiet (especially the annex). I recommend it as an oasis of peace and cleanliness from which to explore the city and relax afterwards. Tony and his family are very accommodating hosts. They take justifiable pride in all the work they’ve done to make their hotel a home away from home and do everything possible to help the visitor experience all Athens has to offer.

Hotel Tony's new, renovated rooms are perfect with all the modern conveniences. I would recommend a room with a balcony, though there is so much to do in Athens, there is not much time to relax on the balcony! Tony is friendly and good at recommending restaurants and giving directions. Our room was very comfortable and if you need a hair dryer, just ask. Would highly recommend Hotel Tony for its conveniences, location, and price.

We stayed here for the last 2 nights of our trip to Greece. It is an easy 10 minute walk to the Acropolis. Tony gave us great suggestions for many things. The rooms were modern and spacious with large balconies and kitchenettes.

Hotel Tony is perfectly located within walking distance from the Acropolis and recently renovated.
We stayed in the annex building by the corner, room 201 ground floor, wery well renoveted but INCREDIBLY SMALL!
The whole room was less than 10 sqmt, not enough room for our backpacks, we had to walk literally on our stuff to go from the bed to the bathroom and vice versa, the bathroom was less than 2 sqmt with a ridiculous lavatory, not bigger than an dish and a small shower.
The bed was way smaller than a Queen bed, absolutely uncofortable for 2 people, average size, to sleep on a "almost" single bed.
We didnt chat that much with Tony, the owner, coz he was quite busy with the renovation and everytime we wanted to get into the Hotel from the main entrance we had to waith for some of the workers to open the door coz nobody was at the reception...
Im quite sure that all the positive references about this Hotel are deserved but our experience, due to the claustrophobic feelings from the extremely small room and the renewal in progress, was quite negative.

Room Tip: AVOID the room 201 on the ground floor, no balcony and ridiculous small
