Owner description: This ancient Greek temple, located on the Acropolis and dedicated to Hephaistos, god of the forge, is one of the few temples to be almost entirely preserved.

A visit to the Agora is not complete unless you see this magnificent site. The walk up is gentle and as the temple comes into view it is simply beautiful! The state of preservation is amazing and although entry to the temple is not allowed one can view the entire building from all sides by walking around the outside. There is added advantage of a very pleasant view from the temple. Recommended!

After strolling around the Plaka area you get a great feel for what ancient Athens was like in the period between 400 BC and 400 AD. It just helps to get a picture of the total layout of ancient Athens.

I spent 4 days in Athens and visited the temple of Hephaestus on the first day. It's absolutely beautiful, and is located in the museum of Agora, alongside other historical monuments. It takes a chunk of the day to visit that area, and is absolutely worth it!

This temple gives you a great idea of what temples used to look like. It pokes out of the greenery and makes an excellent picture!
