“Green oasis in the city”
Reviewed 30 November 2011

I've been many times there for coffee or snacks or dinner, with my husband or with friends, day or night and it was always a very good place! Summer is for sitting outdoors under the pine trees and around the small man-made lake, winter is for inside with the real trees (!), the modern fireplace, the large windows for looking out at the garden, the festive decorations according to the season...
Several kinds of coffees, hot chocolates, special teas, freshly squeezed juices, smoothies etc. plus crepes, large waffles with ice cream, pastries, omelets and more make it ideal for breakfast. Pretty satisfying pizzas, finger food, burgers, sandwiches (good club at 8 euro) and wraps plus a selection of beers (Duvel at 5.85 euros) make it ideal for lunch too.
At dinner there are many dishes to choose from (meat, pasta, salads, 2-3 choices of fish) and tasty desserts plus a small reasonably priced wine-list (best choices around 20-25euros), so I like it for dinner also even though it can be rather expensive.
I just don't enjoy cocktails there so much (or the ones I ordered were weak and so-so).
It's a beautiful place to hang out any time, so if you can find it GO!!!

“Papagou gem, in the forest...”
Reviewed 23 December 2009

I have visited Verde many times last years, and it is a surprise not to see any reviews in here! This place is full of customers every time I go and it's a classic (and probably the unique) option for the whole neighborhood of Papagou.
ACCESS: To find it, you turn on the road, from Mesogeion, at the Ethniki Amyna station and follow this street for 1+ km. The store locates in the green park "Alsos Papagou" and it's open all seasons.
WINTER: The indoor area is separated in restaurant and cafe/bar. The place is beuatiful , nice lighting, bar in the middle with nice stands and lounge chill out tables, with nice chairs. The restaurant area is also very nice decorated. Food is good.
SUMMER: Perfect area, they have tables all over in thsi little forest! There is a big poll/lake (no swimming is allowed) which refreshes the place and you mind. There is outdoor bar and you will usually find many people there, enjoying ice-creams, cold coffees and coctails. For summer nights, especially for the hot ones, it's one of the top-10 options in Athens!

- Although overcrowded, it's usually easy to find a parking place (free)
- Not easily accessible, without a car. No good transportation (busses etc) there. Difficult to find a taxi, late night.
- It's open all day long, from early morning
- To find it, leaving Mesogeion street, you follow the road and when you find the next traffic light, turn left, pass the Ag. Skepi Church and turn left again. The "Alsos" is on your right hand. You will see the cars, so find a parking there and enter the area by foot.

Top choice: Their sweets. I recommend the excellent cheesecake and the homemade apple-pie with ice-cream
