We stayed in Athens for a few days prior to a spot of island hopping. The hotel was modern and clean & the staff were polite and very helpful. The hotel is located a few doors away from the 5 star Radission (albeit around the corner). The Victoria Metro station is a short walk away as is the National Archaeological Museum. The Acropolis and surrounding sites are accessible via 3 or 4 stops on the Metro. We stopped at Monastiraki (stop number 3) and walked around Plaka. The only thing that I would mention to be aware of is crossing the road - a lot of vehicle's don't stop even when the pedestrian crossings are green! Overall we had great short stay with no complaints. Happy travels :-)

Whilst a little out of the main tourist area the access to Victoria metro is only a quick walk ay and direct access to all of Athens. We had a deluxe double room (#503) which was huge. Well worth the few extra Euros as it also had a balcony which was at least 20m2 itself with table and chairs and 2 sun lounges. The best shower in a hotel for a long time. Front office staff very friendly and helpful. Agree with other posts the area is lacking in restaurants and the ones nearby required walking through a run down area with lots of relative undesirables but were never bothered by them. est to eat elsewhere and travel home by Metro. Considering the size of the room and the inclusive breakfast the was very good value for money and would recommend the extra money having seen the standard rooms when they were being cleaned.

Room Tip: Deluxe double with balcony worth the extra

Stayed for 3 nights at Areos Hotel.
From the outside, with the big neon sign it looks like a cheap 2 star motel.
We booked a suite which was on the 6 floor and wasn't noisy.
The hotel is in an 'interesting' neighbourhood near a polytechnic school which introduces quite a variety of student characters.
Hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the metto station.
We didn't find any restaurant to recommend in the hotel area and the staff's recommendations did not hit the spot.
Room had coffee and a decent kettle.
The shower was our main dislike here, ad it was filthy, had no curtain and leaking from its bottom which took 4 towels to soak the water after each shower.

Small rooms but very cozy. Plus, you didn't come to Athens to chill in the hotel room. Extremely helpful guy at the front desk (I didn't catch his name but he has glasses). Ask him for recommendations! Breakfast is good, very simple, and included in the price. Not too far of a walk from Victoria station (metro).

I stand in awe as Antony at the front desk told me the room does not come with drinking water.

This is my 2nd stay in Areos. The 1st was in a deluxe double room that came with 2 bottle of water. Since I am transiting, I booked a small room. To my shock, it did not come with drinking water. At 1st, I thought it was a mistake but Antony confirmed it.

So if you book a small room, BRING YOUR OWN WATER.

Room Tip: Dont book small room, no drinking water

Had a really good stay in the Areos hotel, it is small, friendly, clean and had excellent service. Good sized rooms, immaculate bathroom and staff that went above and beyond. Great value for money!

The area behind the hotel is not the best, but it is more than possible to avoid this and get in and out of town easily.

Room Tip: Higher the room the better as noise from the bar travels

It was no problem getting a room there without booking or callling before. The whole employees were really friendly. The room was clean and looked new. Like it is in big cities, it was a bit too loud, at least we got the room next to the elevator... At the included breakfast you get everything, but you need to pay for coffee?!
