Even with several hotels nearby many people would walk past, or not notice this place was there, as most people head straight for the main streets of the area. Please go looking for it instead!
The place is small & traditional, the menu was limited when we went as it was winter, but still plenty of choice that we liked. Choose several dishes & share, the Greek way! Everything was prepared & cooked to order, so we knew it was fresh, especially as we had seen Markos arrive earlier with all the ingredients straight from the market!
Everything was very nicely presented, the servings generous & the house wine hit the spot too! Markos will keep you entertained, when he has the time he loves to chat & makes you feel so welcome.
A few wonderful evenings/lunch times here & the bill definitely won't hurt the pocket either, very reasonable prices. We ate (2 of us) 2 evenings here, both times with a fair amount of alcohol, 23.50 & 29.50 euros!

My husband and I read a quick blurb about this small ouzerie (or mezedopoleio) in a review of a close-by hotel (Athens Cypria) and the reviewer was very complimentary of Aspro Alogo. So, when we visited Athens in Sept 2008, we wanted to find this place! We are soooo HAPPY that we did!! It is located at corner of Apollonos & Patrou (small side street without much activity).

This place is very small and quaint - about 4 or 5 tables inside and about 6 very tiny tables outside. The service was amazing and the food was wonderful. Markos and his wife made us feel like a king and queen. We thought Markos was the owner but maybe he's the manager, but it doesn't matter. This man knows the meaning of customer service and eating here (twice!) was honestly one of the BEST parts of our entire Greek vacation (to Athens, Mykonos and Santorini)!

Markos offered us a welcome ouzo upon sitting down. He offered suggestions on what to order. He went out of his way to arrange the small outdoor tables and chairs to make us comfortable. After eating, he would give us small shots of different types of Greek liqueurs. He would check often to see if everything was to our liking. On our second visit, there were 3 other tables of repeat visitors! That should tell you something about the service!!

So what good things did we eat?
Greek salad -- super fresh and delicious; lots of feta
Sauteed shimp dish with tomatoes and spices
Baked anchovies with oil and spices -- I loved it!
Calamari
(a big plate of toasted bread always provided)
Watermelon for dessert (not ordered, but provided by Markos)

On our last night and second visit to the restaurant, we were here for hours - eating, drinking, enjoying the weather and soaking in the friendly and fun atmosphere. If you want a quaint place with good food, affordable prices and outstanding service, you MUST go here.
