Myself and a friend had been planning a trip to Greece, but were somewhat at a loss as to where exactly we should go, where to stay, and all of the little details that go into planning a trip; luckily, we found Eternal Greece! We knew we wanted to do a self-drive tour through the Peloponnese, but once we started trying to plan from there, we quickly got overwhelmed and reached out to Eternal Greece. From my initial inquiry (through the website) through follow-up emails once we returned home, Eric was extremely communicative, responding to emails and requests often within hours, even with the time difference between the US and Greece.
Because of Eric and Eternal Greece, planning our trip to Greece was fun rather than stressful, with Eric taking our general travel style and “need to see” destinations and then suggesting itineraries for our 2-week trip. After picking our preferred itinerary, a few adjustments with input from ourselves and Eric, and many emails between the three of us, we were ready to head to Greece!
I can’t describe how fantastic it was to have Eric handle all the little details that so often make a trip stressful. For example, rather than having to trek across Athens to pick up the rental car, Eric organized for it to be dropped off at our hotel, where he met up with us to go over details for the trip. Having Eric there meant there was someone who could read Greek to look over the rental contract with us, and give us quite a few tips and tricks for driving in Greece, as well as more general recommendations for our time in Greece.
Our itinerary included several of the major “must see” destinations like the Parthenon and Archaeological museum in Athens, Corinth, Delphi, and Olympia, but also quite a few that were off the beaten path for American tourists (largely thanks to Eric’s suggestions). Our first stop outside of Athens was Loutraki, a spa town just over an hour from Athens where we had one of the best meals of the whole trip at a little restaurant Eric recommended (no menu, just whatever the chef was cooking that day!). Galaxidi was one of the stops on the trip that my friend and I were originally the least interested in, largely because we couldn’t find much information on it, but wow were we wrong. Thanks to Eric’s recommendation, we spent the night there and it ended up being our favorite stop on the trip! (I cannot recommend enough the breakfast on the patio at the Galaxa Mansion.) This theme continued throughout the trip, with recommendation after recommendation being exactly what we wanted for our vacation; often places we simply could not have found on our own, like the Canal Dive brewery outside Corinth.
If you are looking to book a trip to Greece I would highly recommend Eternal Greece! I know that if I ever plan another trip to Greece, contacting Eric will be one of the first things I do.
