4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 May 2014

We staying here for 5 nights in Sept. We chose it because overall it offered everything we wanted without a crazy price tag.

We paid extra for the Acropolis view and I would say it is worth it to some degree. The windows don't open and there's no balcony so you really only get the view from inside, which is fine if you're aware that that's the case. The other thing to bear in mind is that you actually get great views of the Acropolis from all over Athens and from the roof terrace of the hotel!

The locality is interesting! It looks pretty rough when you first arrive because the hotel is actually located down a small side street where a fruit market and sort of flea market operate during the day. At night you're left with a big empty space and the smell of the day, which to be honest is not that great! However, the fast food place on the corner does gyros for 2EUR and they're fab!
It took us about 5-7 minutes to get the very centre part of Athens which was great. I will say though that if I had been on my own walking back at night, I would have definitely felt nervous. We had absolutely no issues though.

The staff were all very nice and helpful. The rooms are small but pretty well designed and very clean.

If you're on a bit of a budget, this is a good place to stay without compromising too much.

Dear KathrynEJA,

Thank you for your review and positive comments about our helpful staff, good rates and easy walk to the Acropolis. As you experienced, though the hotel is front of the fruit market there was no issue after five days. In case you decide to come back please check the offers on our web site all year round. Hope to see you again.

A friend had stayed here years ago when it was called the Hotel Omega and likened it to "Faulty Towers". Luckily, about five years ago it changed ownership and was totally refurbished. It's now a very clean, well-run hotel with not a Basil or Manuel in sight.
One big advantage of the hotel is the location close to Monastiraki Station--which is on the line to and from the airport and also to Piraeus. Very convenient. It's a short walk of about 400m from the station to the hotel.
The hotel is right next to the fruit and vegetable markets. So close that when you walk out the front door you see a wall of colour from all of the stalls. Just across the road are the fish and the meat markets. The neighbourhood is not opulent-- you'll see hardware shops and the like as you walk up from the station but it's handy to the Plaka and to transport.
Rooms are on the small side but adequate. The hotel is scrupulously clean, the bathrooms smallish but nicely fitted out.
We were upgraded to the fifth floor which gave us views of the Acropolis and there are beautiful views of the Acropolis and the Parthenon from the rooftop terrace, with drinks available and a very helpful barman who can answer all your questions.
The staff were always polite, friendly, helpful and patient. We were very impressed with the manager, Dorina (?) who gave us some very good suggestions about Athens and who was very hands-on with her staff training.
It's a clean, well-run hotel and we'd stay there again.

The location of this hotel is in an residential area of Athens. It is a 5 minute walk to the Monstiracki train station on Athinas Street. From the hotel, you can walk to the Acropolis and the Parthenon. The breakfast is a plus and the rooftop terrace is nice. The one thing that needs to be improved is the WIFI. I stayed here on 2 occasions, for a total of 4 nights, on the 5th and 2nd floor and the WIFI signal is extremely weak. Each floor has its own wifi connection, but every 10-15 minutes the router will kick you off and you can't connect to the internet unless you call the front desk and they reset the router for you. This happened so many times that I stopped using their wifi. If you're in Athens and looking for a inexpensive accommodation, this should suit you fine. Also, note that the Queens/Double size bed is 2 single beds put together and the difference between a superior room and an economy room is a room with a view versus no view. The room sizes are about the same.

Room Tip: rooms are the same size. Floor 1-3 is economy with limited/no views. Higher floor is more expensive...

If you want to stay in the heart of Athens, this is a great place to be. From the hotel you are in Monastiraki, Plaka and the Acropolis in no time. The rooms are tastefully decorated and incredibly clean. I found the closet, desk and standard for your suitcase very handy. A big plus is the varied breakfast buffet that is included in the price. Be sure to walk up to the rooftop, the view of the city and the Acropolis is breathtaking, especially in the night. The staff was very helpful and friendly, they even let me have breakfast before the buffet normally opens.

Let me preface this by saying my best friend and I were on the flight from hell and flying from New York with a literal sprint thru Geneva to catch our flight to athens. We made it on time but our luggage was stuck in Geneva. Arriving at athens center square we were welcomed and although we were sweating from all the chaos of the flight, we were immediately checked in and ventured to our room. Yes the rooms are smaller than most and the bathroom had an interesting design (although I liked it), it was more than enough for us two girls. Wifi, great breakfast and location were all perfect. Not to mention our front desk lady was so sweet that she was keeping a look out for our luggage to get dropped off for the entire >24 hr time we didn't have them. She called the airlines for us on request and even called the delivery man to try to hasten the delivery to get to us b4 we left for santorini. With nothing but our purses, we explored all of athens just by the location of the hotel. The hotel is a bit on the corner of a street and a bit hard to find initially but right when you exit you are on the covered street area where the vegetable market is and across the street from the fish and meat market. Down 5 min or less you are in the main shopping street and monastriki square where lots of young ppl mingle at night. Great restaurants and souvenir shopping as well as the flea market to the right. Walk a little further and you will hit the pathway to acropolis. I would say a 10-15 min walk. Finding your way back was a cinch. We even went to the museum of archaeology in the opposite direction..15 min walk and literally finished the acropolis, temple of Zeus, Olympic stadium, and museums ..acropolis and archaeology. To top it off, the service was incredible. We received our luggages at midnight ..4 hours b4 we had to get to the airport..and the manager set us up with a breakfast ...at 3-4 AM! Wow..

If you are willing to have a hotel more in the heart of athens without the price I would recommend here.

The hotel is situated 5 min walking from the Monastiriki subway station, just opposite the fruit and vegetable market, and not very far (5 min walking) to the historical centre of Plaka with its numerous shops, tavernas, bars and restaurants. The Acropolis, the Acropolis Museum, Plaka, the flee market and many other places are at walking distance. The rooms of the hotel are great, very clean, with a fabulous view on the Acropolis or the fruit market, depending on which side of the hotel your room is. The view from the roof terrasse is awesome, particularly when the sun is setting over Athens. The breakfast buffet is delicious with a big choice of food including some greek delicacies.

Room Tip: Don't forget to visit the roof terrasse. Needless to say that the view is better from the higher...

We stayed there for two nights. The location of hotel is not very great, right next to the vegetable and meat market. It remains noisy for most part of the day till 9PM at night. The best thing I liked about the hotel was its staff. They were very friendly and always ready to help. The rooms were small and okish(Since we got it booked through travel agent,it might not be the best room in the hotel).I have read in the different reviews that this hotel has a great view to Akropolis but unfortunately only view which we got was that of noisy vegetable market. The breakfast was decent in this price. There is only one elevator which can accommodate at most two people. So before booking this hotel, make sure you are getting a room with a right view and not what we got.

Dear Ankiitjain1985,

I am sorry your agent did not inform you that we are in the very centre of Athens, in front of the fruit, market, as well as few min walk to the Acropolis and most Archeological sites and museums. We on the other hand clearly mention it on our web site, as we believe that our clients must be well informed of their choice. We have three types of rooms "superior" rooms are on the high floors and "Acropolis View" at the back side. should your travels bring you back to the city please do not hesitate to check our web site and offers. Best regards.
