“Good Hotel in seedy environment.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 January 2013

The rooms of the hotel are clean, spacious and very well equipped with modern amenities. The Lotus Hotel is located in the close to a railway station and a bus station. So the surroundings has a little bit the unpleasant atmosphere of drugscene and prostitution. The bottel of wine wich offerd as a gift from the hotel tasted enjoys a challenge, so that we will be more pleased if we had have a bottle of water. The staff is professional, but little accommodating. Taking into account the special price we paid € 49.-per night (without breakfast), we had a good value for money.

The Athens Lotus is a good quality city centre hotel with friendly staff and a family professional way of management. I found it on comments of others and my opinion has not changed. This is not a 'bucket and spade' hotel, has 31 rooms, certainly the one in which I stayed is good quality with wifi access, mini bar direct dial telephone. A very comfortable double bed dominated the room

As with all things, there are a few minor negatives. The heating/air conditioning is set at 16 degrees therefore if you are a cold fish sleeper like me that is far too warm so switch the AC off and open the window. That might let the traffic noise increase. The bathroom has a walk in shower and for someone who prefers the option of lazing relaxing I would have preferred a bath. WE must all however save water and the water was certainly hot.

I understand that the majority of clients come through the internet and I certainly have no complaints and is well worth the money paid. Breakfast is American Style but lunch and evening meal can also be purchased.

The metro station is within a 2 minute walk with a metro/train journey of about an hour to the airport with the service starting early and finishing late.

The staff at this hotel made my experience to Athens wonderful. They were friendly, helpful and always willing and ready to help and advise you the best places to visit and how to get around town. The rooms are very modern, clean and comfortable. The hotel restaurant food prices were reasonable and tasty.

I got this hotel thru hotwire, names unknown until booking. The price was pretty low.
But then it didn't include breakfast and there's no alternative near the hotel for breakfast.
The breakfast cost 7 euro/person. The breakfast is okay. Nice warm boiled eggs. omlet, sausage, bacon, croissant etc. All that is required for breakfast and it was cooked pretty well.

The location is okay. The hotel is very close to metro station. Metaxourgeiou, three stations away from Syntagma. Pretty convenient. It is not far from the National Archaelogical Museum: I walked to the museum from the hotel.

The room is not large, but it's not that stuffy because the room has pretty high ceiling.

On the whole, I think the hotel was okay. But I thought it was strange that they don't have coffee/boiling pot in the room.

Not the first time I stayed there. Great location (few steps from Metro), taxis available nearby. Still excellent service (always with a smile). Rooms where clean, full of amenities such as a safe, fridge for your own stuff, free wifi, etc. And to top it all, a down to earth price.
Highly recommended, this is my place of stay in Athens!

Modern and clean, and right where you want to be - just a short walk from all the attractions, and the blink of an eye from the metro. We had a big, comfortable bed and a hot shower with pressure that was better than at home. We walked 10-15 minutes to the Acropolis. Its not in the best area, but you'll save more than half over other 4 stars and stay in a nice room. There are lots of painless little tricks you can use to save money on your Greek odyssey.

Of course, you'll want to go in September-October shoulder season when the water is still warm but the really ridiculous crowds are gone. For the night before our flight to Greece, we made sure to arrange a stay and park package, this will save you the stress of parking spot searching and airport parking lot safety worries, and save you packets of money. We have been using stay123.com for many years now, and find them to be the best. And you might want to consider taking the airport bus into Athens for 3 Euros, saving more than 30 Euros off the same ride in a taxi.

Eat and drink where the locals do. First of all, that's the best way to enjoy any other culture, not by hanging out in portable plastic westerner emporiums. If it says English Breakfast - keep walking! Don't order bottled wine, have the fantastic sun-drenched local wine instead "from the barrel", sold here not by the liter, but by the kilo.(yay, Greece!)

If you travel between the islands by ferry, not only do kids under 5 board for free, but you can save a night's accommodation. When you're seeing the glories of Greece, request a combination ticket, available for most areas of Greece with multiple attractions. These will not be offered, you must ask for them, and they will save you 1/3 off the tickets for each individual sight.

However you choose to travel, its impossible to avoid an unforgettable trip in this really beautiful place. And don't forget the island of Santorini before you leave. The ancient world, right there in front of you.

Room Tip: All the rooms are fine, and all a huge bargain.

I highly recommend this small hotel in Athens. Very clean and cute near a metro station. After two stop you are in the middle of everything!! I'll say to stay there if you only go to be in Athens for a day or two.
