“My worst hotel experience ever”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2014

The hotel was nothing like the websites. Pictures seem like they've been taken from a totally different hotel. It was dirty, old, AC and fridge were noisy, wifi didnt work after 12:00 am. Once we got in bed, we started itching. There were insects and the room and bathroom were extremely rusty and old. Seems like the hotel emerged from the dumpsters in the 50's and hasn't been touched since then. Not even the size of the room we requested was true. We were supposed to get a 32 m squared room (as stated) and it was nothing close to that. We actually left the hotel at 2:00 am and left our luggage there, and walked across the street to Grand Bretagne hotel to get a room just so we could sleep. It was an absolute nightmare!

Room Tip: Stay away from this hotel !

The location is superb right next to the shopping street Ermou and a short stroll from Plaka and Monastiraki - the cultural hub. The hotel itself is interesting.. The rooms look like something out of Alice in Wonderland. Very retro modern. The wifi works sometimes, although a lot of the time it doesn't. In saying that it is free. The breakfast has one 2 slice toaster which is a little frustrating when you have 10 people lined up waiting for toast. The stairs are dangerous beware! They are slippery marble and I fell because there is no protective rug. I would recommend taking the lift but it is very small - 1 bag 1 person. Some good and some average elements to this place.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights and were supposed to stay for another night after our islands' tour but we cancelled the third night!! The hotel is marked as a four stars property and i would hardly give it a 3 stars.... we were staying at the Diamond Plus which is across the street but had to check in at the Athens Diamond, the reception is very tiny so are the two buildings.... we went up to the room it was of decent size however, the interior is the cheapest i have ever seen in a hotel room... they tried hard to make modern rooms and ended up with cheap looking furniture. The hotel location i must admit is superb but i hated it so much that we couldn't stay for the extra night... on the last day i found an ant in the room, you can over hear the room next to you, you get a feeling that you are staying in a rented studio rather than a hotel room. The wifi was horrible we only got the connection near the door other than that you loose the connection. we were afraid of leaving our belongings in the safe box as we shared the balcony with the two rooms next to us... if you are looking for a decent 4 stars hotels to stay in this is not a recommended place.... instead try the Electra hotel on Ermou street, we stayed there on the night we cancelled and it was great....

Anna and Marguerita helped us a lot and were very nice in answering all our questions and inquiries , Anna even recommended an agency whete we bought tickets for a cruise with a discount!!
Breakfast rich and tasty and service was really remarkable!

For the third year in a row we stayed at this hotel with extended family occupying several rooms. We all love the location with shops, restaurants , and all the important monuments close by. Also transport to and from airport is up the street making this a very convenient hotel for a reasonable price. The rooms are all different decorated in a modern way some very spacious others are smaller but perfectly adequate. The staff at reception are great always helpful and going out of their way to help. Breakfast is quite good for a small boutique hotel.
We enjoyed staying there just as much this year so we ll be back.

Room Tip: Higher floors with balcony

We stayed here for 3 nights! The hotel is in the perfect location as I a shopping fanatic and the street parallel has all the best shops but the hotel itself wasn't that great!! I must say I did love the design of the hotel but the fixtures were so cheaply done that everything was practically falling apart! All the fixtures were not straight, they were lop sided. The bathroom door wouldn't open and close properly and either did the fridge door, it kept jamming! The cupboard looked like it was about to fall apart and safe felt like it was put together by a rope!
The lift was a little of the problem too as only 2 people fit in it therefore if people needed to go breakfast they had to wait for a while for the lift to go up and down!
The breakfast was pretty horrible too, the only thing they had was toast, tea and coffee station, yoghurt, some canned fruit and then some eggs! To make juice you had to cut the oranges and make the juice yourself! We honestly tried the breakfast one day and the rest we just went down to the bakery and bought yummy fresh cheese pies! The staff was also extremely rude at breakfast! They wouldn't even speak to us, just completely walked passed us and pretended we weren't even there! The only person that was nice was the lady we checked in with and checked out with, which they didn't even seem to be greek as their Greek was horrible! I would only stay here to go shopping in the next street, other than that no way and the shower pictures that people put up are a little deceiving! They don't look that big and the bottom shower head would poke into you!

Having stayed in many Athens hotels over the years we decided a change would be welcome. This most certainly was a great place to stay. Everything one would need for a comfortable convenient stay in Athens was met at the Diamond Homtel. Staff were friendly and efficient, pricing was reasonable and the location was superb. Rooms delivered cleanliness, great beds, air con. that did not feel like you were on a space ship and wifi that was at times a little iffy!!! We were actually able to enjoy a cold wine on the patio after the sun set thanks to the wee fridge in the room. Breakfast was adequate and loved the fresh orange juice every morning. There is nothing on a negative note worth mentioning. Totally enjoyed our 3 day stay and most definitely will stay again next year. Thankyou to Athens Diamond Homtel for the great experience.

Room Tip: We were on the 5th floor and apart from the people above us leaving very early we were never bothere...
